Greetings all!
My name is Sithan, I am Canadian currently living on the Northeast coast of Brazil. Moved here in 2006, definitely prefer the weather to Ottawa, but one thing I missed from home was my model airport in 1/144 scale.
Like all of you here, I collected diecast planes in the 80s, however back then the quality was far from accurate. Model diecast planes were in fact toys, and back then, looked the part.
I grew out of them and moved to 1:200 Hasegawa kits, but wanted more detail, so moved to 1:144 in the 90s. Life and a couple of kids and a move to the tropics forced me to shelf the hobby, and leave my beloved airport.
Until one day, by coincidence, an ad for an NG Model appeared on my Facebook feed. I was amazed by the level of detail of these, truly, next generation pieces of art. I was hooked. So, this year I began my journey, once again into this hobby.
It has been quite amazing to see the new moulds on the market along with new manufacturers really pushing the limits on these tiny metal things. I have been doing a lot of research, following many of you here on YouTube and instagram. Evaluating moulds to the real thing, comparing manufacturers producing different aircraft types. People like Swiss400, Yesterdays Airlines, Create and Fly, Citrus Aviation have been particularly helpful guides.
I felt however that there was a gap between these new moulds their incredible realism compared to the Airports they were sitting at. Sadly and often times, those were wooden blocks made to look like airport terminals – doing little to compliment the beauty of these ultra-life-like pieces of art.
These are some preliminary photos of my new model airport. The idea is to start a YouTube presence like many of you with reviews and showcasing parts of my fictional Airport. I hope you guys like.
Really excited to be part of the community!
Abraços,
