Did nobody post about the latest JC Wings set announced at the end of Feb? I can't find a thread about it. To be fair it isn't that exciting a bunch but I just published the latest ranking vid at the site:

Kinda excited for the Cubana An-26 but that's all. The rest seems a bit repetitive to me.

The choice was underwhelming indeed, but since this one is in the classic scheme (previous one had a 2000s scheme), it caught my attention.

I'd like to see one in basic Aeroflot colors, or maybe all white with UN markings

Fun fact:
It seems that, despite being in Cubana colors, the whole An-26 fleet was operated by the Cuban Air Force.
Cubana only operated the An-24 version (pax version, no rear cargo ramp).

Thing number 1: as many of us know, not the first case of a government disguising military planes as flag carrier ones. Not even sure where this airframe is, but the last time I checked, the Venezuelan Air Force painted the presidential A319CJ in Conviasa colors. One of Conviasa E-190s is also a Lineage 1000 for gov. use.

Thing number 2: It is not the first time tons of collectors might get subtly deceived by such things. As an example, I believe the majority of collectors who own a copy of Viasa N749WA are convinced they have a model of a Viasa passenger airplane. I would even bet that Aercolassics themselves are convinced they produced a pax 747.

But isn't that 747 a -200C type? Which means it's a convertible. Even with nose cargo doors, it can be fitted with passenger interior and used as a regular passenger aircraft. Am I right?

You are absolutely correct! Herein the confusion surrounding this airframe. Viasa used it exclusively as a cargo hauler, there is plenty of evidence, also a Viasa Captain who flew it wrote about it in his autobiography. At this point, there is pretty little doubt about it. It was the only 747 fully painted in Viasa colors too.

I have done quite a bit of research about that airframe, and what I have found so far is that the only airline that ever used it to haul passengers was Braniff.

This was the prototype Evergreen Supertanker also. Aeroclassics also made it and it gave it the nose door outline It is the same airframe...

On the Viasa colors example they omitted the antiglare. The Evergreen one says Supert Anker.

I have lost count of how many people I have seen paying $200+ for the Viasa one...
