Jacob’s “Model Mondays”

This is a nice one! I missed the AirTran era but my dad tells me all about AirTran’s 717 fleet because he did the work to get them to Delta, pretty cool stuff!
When I was very little getting off my first flight, Southwest 313, betwwen MDW-LGA in May 2013 theres a photo of me at the LGA baggage claim and you can see the AirTran logo in the background 🤣. By then they had merged with Southwest

California One is the third state flag to make its way onto a Southwest Airlines fuselage back in August of 1995. There are twelve of these special aircraft and these liveries have survived across many aircraft types through the years. The first round of jets back in the 1990s used Boeing 737-300s, a workhorse in Southwest’s fleet at the time. N609SW wore its California One scheme shown here from 1995 at delivery until late 2002/early 2003 when the tail was updated with the new at the time Canyon Blue scheme. That puts this great little model at a roughly 7 year span. California One has lived on a 737-300, -700, and now lives on a 737-800. When it is phased out it will more than likely be placed onto a 737 Max 8 as many others have done. Panda Models has a great 737-300 mold and I wish they used it a little more. It isn’t without its minor flaws but it’s miles ahead of anyone else in the 400 scale market.

Very cool bird. Love this Panda Mould! By far the best B737 Classics in 1:400 scale, in my opinion. I just wonder why they never did the 500 series.

This frontier 737 began its life all the way back in 1969 under Piedmont Airlines. After the merger in 1989, USAir took on the bird and flew it till 1994 when Frontier Airlines acquired it. It lasted with them until 2000, I assume in this paint scheme the whole time. It got the Black nose cone at some point during its Frontier career as well. This model roughly represents about 6 years in the 90s which isn’t too bad. After Frontier this frame went on to Palm Aire (2000) and Aero Continente (2000-2001). It has been long scrapped by now. A great little model and those that love that era of Frontier have 4 more of them now! I got this one for the USAir roots and reg, of course. A great little model for the collection.

N402YX was delivered to Republic new in 2013 in the American Eagle color scheme. In 2020 it was updated to be in Republics house colors which it is still in today! That puts this model in a 6k year window so far and we’ll see how long it lasts. Gemini Jets has their issues with these RJs and thankfully this one isn’t the worst looking in the world. Everything sits generally where it should and the printing is pretty okay minus the blue color being way too dark. Im really happy with this one even though I don’t get it out of the box very much.

This was a good release. GJ needs to do more of these house livery RJs — why we haven’t seen the SkyWest CRJ-900, considering they have made the 700 before, is beyond me.

So basically my eyes are now used to the LegacyJets E175 releases, and this GJ E175 looks very turdy in comparison now :( :ROFLMAO: lol

Agreed…. the nose shape hasn’t always been perfect but it looks a lot more off now after seeing the LJ. It’s fine but now whole heartedly inferior. I hope LJ can take advantage of this with their next releases!

This is a great model, I have it in 1:200. Excellent model as well. What is weird to me is that N401YX is an E175, and in 2014, Gemini did N401YX but it was an E170?
