I‘ll be dammed!
In the past 10 years, my life was taken up by a tornado in Athens and spat me out in Münster Germany where I have been living since 2017.
This Weekend, I took my relics of collection to the FMO model fare and met interesting people who told me about this forum.

I was so so happy to see my best Model friends like @Charter @Silverbird @CO777
Who else is here for back then?

@Charter you crazy MF!! 30.000 models?
Where do you store them!
By now the biggest collection worldwide?

Sorry to use this section of the forum for this thread of mine but I could not find an off topic.

Anybody planning to visit the AMS fare in February? Meet up for a beer?

So so happy to see you all well! :)

This will be such a boring thread so in advance my apologies to the junger ones.

Alessandro!
I am sure you kept your unstoppable creativity going and I am looking forward to catch up.
I didn’t dare to ask if your wife still accepts your energy and priority to aviation. Haahahhaa
I guess she didn’t.
I remember your health struggles but I also know, models is your cure. So they still save your life:)

Yes many changes.!
I look forward hearing of them.
Any chance of visiting AMS?

I hope so. My timetable should be, after London (done), Paris (mid February), Berlin (March) and Amsterdam (April). I should also meet a friend in Vienna (Schwechat airport ATC controller) but, as you know for sure, women decide and are Commander in Chief!

Very good to see fellow members from W900 here! 🥳🥳🥳

Great to see that fellow W900 members are reuniting. I have strated posting there in 1:400 at around 2014s.

(It could be the case that i once bought an A320 blank series DW and/or some GSEs from you before and have it sent to Vietnam).

By the way, we might have met at the FMO show as I was there early Saturday morning (and i have not posted them yet).

Hey!
Yes I am sure we met.
You were with another 3 fellas of yours? My Stand was the one wirh the three Lufhansa cabin seats as office chairs.
I could tell you are a quite sophisticated collector.

And yes, I had sent you the blank airbus back then.
Live near FMO?

I was never a member of Wings900, yet I have looked and seen some pretty cool stuff. I like Model Airliner Forum for its easier to read.

W900 have a forum layout from the early 2000s. The website was sold years ago AFAIK and the new owners are nowhere to be found, so the forum was never updated into a newer layout. Basically, W900 still is the main forum for 1:500 scale

The layout feels very outdated. I still read it once in a while though.

Yes, I was with another 2 fellas. I have visited your stand.

I agree with the statement that i am quite a sophisticated collector since my scope has expanded gradually.

I am 3 hours away from FMO actually.

Since this thread makes no sense other than it's beautiful, I imagine the hairs on the backs of the more precise moderators are standing on (😂), given the near-perfection of this beautiful forum ❤️ . However, think of it as a Pink Floyd reunion (maybe!!!) or as the affection and emotion of being among pilgrims who experienced collecting by 20 or 30 years ago and now find themselves lost.
However, dear Alex, you're avoiding the most important question, and I'm not avoiding it: what do you think of Herpa in the last 10 years, that is, since it changed ownership???
We 1:500 collectors, especially Europeans, have somehow been forced to switch to 1:400 scale given the absolute inadequacy of Herpa, the shameful models, the lack of detail, etc. etc. Re-releases, re-re-releases, Lufthansa, Qantas, Emirates, C-17, C-5, A400, and then a real black hole! Those who wanted Ryanair, Southwest, Wizz Air, EasyJet, Sky Express (your wonderful Greece!) and many other airlines and who wanted to continue collecting were forced to turn to 1:400 scale. It would be interesting (but impossible to do) to understand what percentage of global collectors have abandoned the 1:500 scale for the 1:400 scale and what market share Herpa has lost (if it has lost it at all).
