GeminiJets United A321 “Coastliner” Future Release

United trying an ill-advised version of the former, gorgeous, Transavia livery
I agree with @Columbus Aviation about the SAF livery - that one's nice with the tail flowing down nicely into the rings - and the aircraft looks great with the wider bands of graded colour with just the titles on a stark white forward fuselage (not narrow rings like this one)
Makes the 787 & max10 look nice and I'd hoped that would become their standard scheme.

It looks like the part of airplane was damaged and replaced but another from differently painted plane like it often happens with nose cones

Why is United putting some random bands around their jets and calling it a "special livery"? 🫤🥴
That SAF livery is quite an eyesore and this one is no good either...
I think the bands seen here, as well as those on the SAF liveries, are part of United’s new visual identity introduced a few years ago. The colours on the bands are part of the airline’s secondary colour palette. They can also be found on some signage and promotional materials.

It's pretty ironic how a few years ago United was capable of producing some of the best special liveries among the legacy carriers (Her Art Here especially), not to mention the retro liveries like Friend Ship. And I thought Delta didn't seem to care about specials as much.

How the tables have turned.
Delta only has the Team USA specials due to their partnership which historically Delta has always done Team USA specials so this isn’t a new thing. Also Delta just re-painted their SkyTeam 767-400 into the standard livery with only the 737-800 remaining with that livery. It is correct to say Delta does not like specials because it takes away from the brand identity that they strive for and that comes from the top as I have heard them say they have no interest in doing heritage livery’s of any kind. Seems United may be following this direction as well.

My dad worked with Delta when they made that decision. He texted me about a week ago when we were talking about it - quote “Nope. Delta doesn’t do heritage liveries. I was there when Richard decided that. One brand. No looking back. Delta is about the future and moving forward.”

This is very much the attitude to this day under Ed Bastian. Have heard him say the same thing myself just one year ago almost as if it’s a bad omen to recognize the past because the past represents “Bankruptcy” and “Instability”. I can also attest to a great extent Delta would rather white wash Northwest’s history.
