Here’s a second review of the 80th Anniversary livery. This time the 748F — both interactive and flaps

So YY is the one that beat the race in terms of timing and first to release this 80th anniversary 747-8F out in the market. It is also the only brand that offers the -8F in flaps configuration, while JC only offers interactive.
I’m still waiting for the JC interactive as I’m typing this so let see if it will show up on the shelves in the next month or so (Mr Johan are you awake
Let’s begin with packaging. I used to rate HX/YY very good in the past like I mentioned from my Etihad F1 or QF Wunala/Nalanji reviews they always go a step above others with plastic bag, harder cardboard type box, etc. Their boxes always arrived flawlessly. However lately not sure why there seems to be some sort of issues with the plastic clamshell that holds the model. Maybe it’s just the batch of 747 clamshells. Once you open the clamshell and if you try to close the lid it won’t snap tight. It keeps popping up and it may dent the box because one pointy part of the clamshell expands inside it. Also, some stock arrived from factory with creases here and there. With a box that hard it shouldn’t crease easy but strangely it happens.
Packaging/design/quality:
★★☆☆☆

Just like the recent VR-HUH review I posted these are mostly the same. Engine markings, wheel hubs, undercarriage door panel lines are nicely done and very detailed just like any other HY/YY. Glossy paint everywhere no dull spots.

Attached is a shot to show how deep the front nose compartment is on the interactive version.
Details/quality:
★★★★☆
Conclusion:
This 80th anniversary 748F is a good complement to the A359 from other brands, and much better alternative to the official Cathay Shop version that is expensive and lack of details. I will wait for the JC version to come out and then possibly do a side by side review
