GeminiJets is High Quality in 2026!

Damn, it’s hard to keep up with you guys. Anyway, this is a post based on some comments I read on page 4. Sorry if this was already discussed.

I don’t think age has to do with how detail oriented a collector is. I am fairly certain, however, that new collectors, regardless of age, are not very picky by virtue of ignorance. Many think GJ is the standard because it is the first brand they are exposed to and don’t know any better.

I have seen it many times, a collector looks wary at a no-name-box (usually Panda) and takes a GJ equivalent instead because it is a familiar brand (I have been guilty of this!). The only innovative Chinese brand that has somewhat of a global recognition is NG, and even then, it is not at the level of GJ. Heck, I think as of today Herpa is more well known than NG outside our community.

I think it is more circumstantial than intentional, but that’s how GJ does business. Their success is based on mainstream recognition rather than painstaking attention to detail.

Sometimes they make good models, many other there’s usually a better alternative available. But it doesn’t matter. They have the market and most people who buy models outside out community won’t loose any sleep over an antenna that’s .005 times larger than what it should, or the cockpit windows that are .04mm too low.

Now, with that premise, Connor should have known that the audience here at MAF can’t be fooled into thinking that GJ is the bomb, unless he was trying to promote them among new members here, which is fair, but difficult to do.

Regarding the endless battle of quality/precision vs. subject matter, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it probably shouldn’t be discussed. Some collector’s are in this hobby strictly in search of the perfect replica, others are here to satisfy their thirst for nostalgia, or looking for a diorama filler, many are somewhere in between. All have very valid reasons for buying the models they buy, and seldom we are all going to be on the same page, 🥱.

Couldn’t have said it better.

It's true, most that walk into our store instantly recognize Gemini, again like I've said before. Tons of people go to Vegas and tons of people go to their flagship store, it's a destination. While we do have picky collectors and AVGeeks that shop our store, and looking to a specific model, a better part of our customers are family based and they are the under 14 crowd that want Gemini. Even though I posted up stats in an earlier reply, it just goes to show that Gemini is the dominant brand and most likely will continue to be dominant. Connor's target audience is probably not this group as this thread got spicy over the details. So I for sure recommend probably not trying to target this audience for opinions regarding the smallest details. We saw that people are very passionate about what they view as better, not good, and everything in between.

That’s my personal dilemma as someone who started with Gemini when I was in college have found myself moving further and further away from them as to me, they’re no longer the most serious brand in the hobby as my eyes have opened to better products. That’s why I struggle with posts like Connor’s as they should be targeted at a younger entry level collector with the way they’re framed and don’t suite a lot of the serious collectors that have more exposure to niche brands. The blanket tag lines are not representative of this hobby as a whole even if Gemini has the most prominent name.

I agree, the polls and videos in a group/forum like this are beating a dead horse and will just cause more controversy than anything. In the end, people are going to buy what they are going to buy, nobody else's business. If they are happy with their purchase then that's all that matters. People will ask our opinions in the retail store, and we will give them, but ultimately it's their decision on what goes into their collection. Even Richard's videos on his channel are just that, his opinions. I like him and they are entertaining, but I may have a different opinion of a brand. If you are a loyalist to Gemini, that's great, or a loyalist to NG, that's great. But I don't condone or like the forcing of a brand down someone's throat. I happen to float toward AC, not because I am close friends with Andrew, but because his models speak to me of airlines that influenced me when growing up. Could they use a refresh on some molds, of course, but so can every other brand. I am happy with everything I buy. I am just lucky to own a retail store and have the pick of the litter.

I, like many others, was introduced to the hobby through Gemini Jets. Of course as their quality downgraded, my loyalty shifted to NG, but in the past few years it has gone back to GJ. I was one of the more nitpicky collectors for a time during my NG phase, but as I talked with other collectors who had a different view, it made me reconsider - is it really worth the time to be so nitpicky on these miniature pieces of metal? Factoring in a lot of my past takes at the time, and what this hobby should really be about, I said no, and thus my views have changed. @400Yinzer you could say that's how I gained the ability to toggle my tolerance for quality.

As for me personally, I graduate college in a few months and will be in a completely different position, so at the end of the day I want to have a place to escape from the 9-to-5 routine (or whatever I end up doing), and this hobby is the perfect escape place. I enjoy collecting way more than I did during my NG loyalist phase, since I'm not so stuck up on the finer things on these models.

My videos are intended for all collectors. I think it's safe to say that everybody has different opinions, and I need to be even more mindful of that after this experience. I will say tho that numbers like this support my video. This includes 125 responses and is distributed on at least 6 different online platforms. 2/3 people think GeminiJets is good or excellent. Is high quality too much? Maybe. Are they bad? Not at all.

Count of Overall, how would you rate the quality of GeminiJets models released in 2024–2026__(...png

As many others have already covered not to beat a dead horse but yes everyone collects different brands for varying reasons that are all legitimate in the eyes of an individual. The data pulled here however still does not encapsulate the
collectors as a whole but people who happen to be paying attention to the content you produce and whom already have an understanding that Gemini Jets will be represented in your content that they happen to be exposed too. There is absolutely a pinch of confirmation bias in these numbers and this is still a small data set to work with and at the end of the day there is always a true measurable and tangible difference between the brands regarding realism and quality whether that’s what an individual desires and or decides to believe.

I think this still doesn’t demonstrate anything. who’s to say that 80% of those who filled the survey in are 14 years old and followed the survey from YouTube, it doesn’t speak for the community.

All this really backs up is the original statements that the survey was a waste of time.

I think you all are underestimating that this went out on FB, IG, Discord, MAF, etc. I think it's probably better than you all are giving credit for. Take a look at some of these comments

For me, It really doesn’t matter what brand people prefer. It makes zero difference to what I’m going to collect.

The annoying part to all of this is that you made your video, stating your opinion, not fact, your opinion. You acted like you were speaking on the communities behalf when you posted this thread. Everyone’s stated what they think of Gemini and whether they agree with your opinion or not but because 125 people shared there opinion by using your pre set questions that don’t account for demographics and other statistical errors, your saying that your video was correct and factually accurate.

End of the day, it really doesn’t matter. As it’s already been said, this thread is just beating a dead horse.
