The arrival of that Air China A330 yesterday got me thinking about stands and the topic seemed like a worthy candidate for a video, so here it is. A rundown of most of the stands ever made in 400 scale, including the NG prototype 757 stand.
I just complaint about the display stands. Although most use circular holes... whether they can actually be inserted is questionable? For example, the display stands provided by AV400/GS don't fit with their own mold, but others can be inserted... This includes other brands as well.
Just like with Type-C,you really think them are unified standards? No,it wasn't.
I do wish there’s was a “standard size” that fit all across the brands. I’m sure it can be a bit frustrating wanting to display your models a certain way and being limited by what stands you own. Currently I only have experience with the GeminiJets satin nickel stand and the plastic dragon wings stands. I’m getting my first NG ultimate in the next month or two so I think i’ll be experience the wing slot for the first time. They look okay but the bit on top of the wings is a bit off putting, especially on the narrow bodies.

I must say that a standard sized solution would of course be the best soloution but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. Especially when NG is about to remove the holes on the planes and offer the overwing solution, which I’m not a fan of and I think it ruins the overall look. However the solution fits better on on the wide bodies rather than the narrow bodies.
Great subject! I was never really satisfied with having only these standard size stands that are often bulky on the base and manufacurer specific.
Today I would recommend anybody in 400 scale that is into 3d printing this as a great beginner project. I got into it about a year ago and they are some of my early successes.
You can get a touch down config like the Starlux, just after take-off like the AAL, taller like the TAM, smaller base like the MAX and so on. Only downsides I noticed were the variable consistency of the 3d printer for stand hole diameter and the need to printing it upright for said accuracy making it a fracture point when the fit is too tight.
