According to “Braniff pages”
The end of Braniff II was signaled by the return of the 1978 "Ultra Scheme." Braniff II only painted two aircraft in the distinctive pinstripe look before filing for bankruptcy in 1989.
This was one of them. A Boeing 737-239 acquired from American Airlines who got them in the Air California merger. (Thus the AC reg). A Boeing 727-227 was painted in "Perseus Green" but never flown in revenue service. It remained in Smyrna, TN.
This was taken in ORD in Oct 1989 (probably on a charter, since September was the last month of scheduled service)
Plenty of photos of a blue 737 (N464AC) in Blue ultra with the same block titles.
