I hope everyone had a great Christmas. 2024 was a fairly mixed year for 400 scale, but there was plenty to get excited about and more models than ever. There's also plenty to look forward to in the new year but first here is my review of the year in 1:400:

Great summary. For most manufacturers 2024 was very dry in terms of releases and I only bought two brand new models. 2025 is looking to be a lot more expensive though 😶

Nice work Richard. Well done, as usual

747s were the biggest disappointment.

HX and Patriot’s classics are fine, but what little releases they have overlap too much. NG’s are substandard and still incomplete. So is their -400. Despite the abundance of -8s, they screwed up their releases with all the repeats and fantasies. They also forgot there’s a third airline operating the pax variant:)

Right and I'd want those.
Broadly they've been avoiding KAL and Dynasty widebodies - they did one - that China Cargo 777F - which didn't sell well enough it seems?
But I will also wait for NG to make both Korean and China Airlines A330s & A350s

Now with PHX messing around with their A330 landing gear lengths, I'm a bit wary of that product - I have the delivery scheme on pre-order though

I checked, and there are just 5 Dynasties in total💀 Somewhat unsurprising considering NG’s strong local ties.

As for KAL, the 747SP didn’t sell well, while the 78X, special 77W, and 321neo all sold out. Demand for modern types is clearly there… so it’s a head-scratcher seeing many of those neglected.
