1980 Central American airport 1:600 scale

Today I decided to revive my old airport set up, and this is the result.
I hope you like the idea.
Off course the airport needs a lot of repair and lot of detailing but I will work on that.

First Airport update, I think this airport might be based near Indianapolis / Minneapolis.

20230212_123529.jpg20230212_123516.jpg

First of, at the Piedmont / Usair terminal we find a Fokker 23 of Piedmont Airlines waiting to get serviced before heading to Columbus, on his left a Boeing 737-400 has embarked his passengers in a cold morning and is getting the baggages loaded, the Boeing 737 will head to Philadelphia.

20230212_123545.jpg20230212_123614.jpg

Just finished boarding and getting de-iced it's a Piedmont Airlines Boeing 727-200 heading to Charlotte.
In the Usai terminal things are starting to get busy as this Boeing 737-300 is running a little bit late, the plane will be heading to Washington DC.

Next is a pair of DC9s, the Usair DC9 is in a rush and getting de-iced before his flight to New York.
The Northwest Airlines DC9 is getting fueled and waiting for ground clearence for Detroit.

20230212_123634.jpg20230212_123651.jpg

Behind the DC9s it's a Delta Connection flight to Chicago operated by Comair (it's not very accurate, crjs in the 1980s weren't real).
In the General Aviation / Cargo ramp it's a ATA military charter flight to destination unknow operated by a Boeing 727.

Here it is, the project of my future 1:600 airport located in Indiana.
Why not just do the old terminal for IND? Your taxiway/runway setup is just about right to make that the old Runway 23R. My dad (purpleplane) and I are re-creating IND circa 1978-2008 in 1:400. We've got just about all the info you'd ever need, even down to the gate assignments over the years.

That's fantastic! I would love to know more about IND, and maybe recreate it in 1:600 scale with your help.
Depends on how big it was...

Depends on how big it was...
The portion that we're building (the entire old terminal plus a portion of Runway 23R is 6 feet square in 1:400... 2400 feet square in real life. So for you, 4 by 4 feet. A large tabletop in other words. Easy.

I designed the terminal for 3D printing and sold the design to Andrew Roeske of Tarmac Designs, located in northwest Indiana. He can print it for you in 1:600... it would just be 66.667 percent of original size. If you don't want to build the buildings yourself...

I had the ground layout done by Layover Layouts, using a design that I created myself from Google Maps photos and actual FAA marking standards.

I will say you have the perfect aircraft mix for IND. USAir and Northwest both had a heavy presence here. NW didn't come in until after the merger with Republic. ATA had charters of course (mostly using the International Arrivals Building on the opposite side of the field from the terminal) but did have scheduled flights to several Florida destinations (and San Juan, using an L-1011) out of Concourse C.

I know I have the right planes, but at first i didnt chose Indianapolis because I have a big fleet of Piedmont airlines but they never operated there and its quite unfortunate.
Also i would peefer buying the terminal and making the ramp.

Piedmont did come in here right before the merger with US... and of course the fleets were mixed afterwards.

What information would you need in order to make the ramp? I do have vector graphics but it would be a major undertaking to resize it to 1:600 and divide it into individual sections for printing.

I would need the real measurements, but would be very ahrd anyway.

I am not too sure

Well I have all of that figured out. What methods and materials were you planning to use?

Could I just send you a pdf of the entire ramp area that you could use as a reference to draw your own? My modeled area is 2400 feet square, which would be 4×4 feet in your scale.

Second Airport update, set at morning rush

20230328_145847.jpg20230328_145838.jpgAt the first gates there are 2 commuters, the Cessna 208 is going to Syracuse and the Metroliner is going to Lincoln. At the Piedmont/Usair gates planes are getting ready to head out. The Fokker 23 is heading to Springfield, a Comair CRJ200 is waiting for the luggage to be loaded before heading to Detroit (the 2 regionals are parked in the regional gates, in an agreement delta can park their planes in the 2 gates). The Boeing 737-300 of Usair is getting refurbished and is waiting for the crew for the first flight of the day to Washington. Mainline Boeing 727-200 of Piedmont is going to Dayton, behind it the Usair Boeing 727-200 is waiting for the pushback clearence to Pittsburgh International Airport.

20230328_145934.jpg20230328_145929.jpg
A Northwest Airlines Douglas DC9 is boarding his passengers for the first flight to Minneapolis of the 4 scheduled flights fortoday. At the last gates of the terminal there is a Delta Boeing 727 that is getting deiced before pushing back for Atlanta and a Boeing 727 of Worldways canada that just came in from Toronto (charter).

20230328_145755.jpg20230328_145759.jpg
At the remote gates a Boeing 767-200er of Piedmont Airlines is waiting for the regular flight to Charlotte, beside the Piedmont plane a American Trans Air military charter flight is unloading the passengers (troops).
Finally at the general aviation section there are a few parked planes, a C172 is getting prepared for a private flight.
