So after some time I have decided to axe the 1980's Gold Coast Airport display in favour of a 90th anniversary display as 2026 is Gold Coast Airport's 90th Anniversary.

The premise of this display is to incorporate the majority of operators that have operated out of Gold Coast Airport since around 1989, on a display that shows what the RPT apron should look like around 2032. I will be using the same boards that I did for the 1980's version of OOL

I aim to include the following airlines:
Airnorth
Ansett Australia
Australian Airlines (1980s/1990s) - Maybe
Australian Airlines (2000s)
Bonza
Cathay Pacific (previously operated Lunar New Year charters)
China Southern (previously operated Lunar New Year charters)
FlyPelican
Impulse Airlines
Jetstar
Pacific Blue
Qantas
QantasLink
Regional Express
Virgin Australia

Airlines I want to Include but don't have the aircraft for:
AirAsia X
Fiji Airways (service starts in June)
Scoot - Maybe.

The first stage of the construction will focus on the current layout of the RPT apron (pictured). With Bay 1L at in the top left and Bay 10R in the bottom right.

The next stage of construction will focus on how the airfield is expected to look in 2032. Image from 2024 Gold Coast Airport Master Plan.

This will see the addition of MARS bays 11 and 12 on the right-hand side of the image.

For the terminal building, I am planning on making it out of Lego like I have done with NQX, however, it will be one colour so it has some uniformity to it and doesn't look as rushed as NQX's terminal does. I will design this using Stud.io. I am planning on making the Terminal-Jetbridge connections 3D Printed (these dark grey parts).

I am wanting the Ground Service Equipment to be 3D printed as well. Luckily. there is someone on eBay selling Australian-style GSE sets for relatively cheap (~$15), and I want to get the JC Wings Jetbridges for this project.

At this point, I am unsure as to whether I want to include the remote bays (30L, 30 and 30R), and the area immediately to the east which is expected to become Bay 31.

This area is really only used for freight and overnight visitors (large business jets if Platinum Business Aviation Centre is full), so I'm not really sure if the 30 bays would be a worthwhile inclusion. Let me know if I should add them.

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated, and I will update this thread through the construction of this display.

And I will not be doing just the airlines that currently serve OOL, as it is the most boring airport in the country.

Really looking forward to seeing this come together!
