Hi All!

So, I am planning on building my first model airport project! It will be called Chicago Lakefront Airport, located a bit North of Downtown Chicago. The concept is basically 'Meigs Field but jet-able'.

The airport will be 'timeless' (and what I mean by that is that any aircraft that could be seen 1990 onwards is allowed. Airlines that ceased before 1990 but operated planes that could be seen in the '90s and beyond are allowed as well).
For reference, here are the models that I have currently:
American Airlines MD82 N236AA old livery (NG Models)
American Airlines MD83 N589AA old livery (NG Models)
American Eagle E170 retro livery N760MQ (GeminiJets)
Skybus Airlines A319 N551SX 'Capital One - When Pigs Fly' (GeminiSelect)
Southwest Airlines B738 N8619F 'Illinois One' (NG Models)
TWA MD82 N960TW final livery (GeminiJets)
United Airlines B735 N936UA Battleship grey (GeminiJets)
United Airlines B738 N36272 'Rise of Skywalker' (NG Models)

And here are models on their way from 3DDD:
AirTran JetConnect CRJ2 N433AW
Northwest Airlink DH8A N833MA Bowling shoe
SkyWest CRJ2 N980SW House livery

These will be the routes from CGX:

Could you send an AA E170 to DCA? That is my original model airport - now belong to @67aircrafts

Now, for the Airport itself. The original terminal will be custom made by Andy from Tarmac Designs (at least when he gets back to me). The terminal will have 14 gates, 6 jetbridge gates, plus an extension on either side with 4 ground gates. The terminal will have a house-like slanted roof and an ATC tower integrated into the structure.

On the grounds of the airport will be a bunch of remote airliner stands, a runway, an FBO with private jets and general aviation, and maybe some other buildings. Lake Michigan will be next to the Terminal on the Landside, with the access road in between the terminal and lake.

Update: Still nothing on the terminal. But, here is some background info on CGX.

The only runway of the airport, runway 18/36, runs parallel to the lake. As such, because the wind often blows away from the lake, the airport usually has notoriously gusty crosswinds on landing.

Now, for the takeoff and approach. First of all, takeoffs and approaches into/from the land side are STRICTLY prohibited except in case of emergency. If you aren't approaching from the west, you have to fly out over the lake and turn in. When landing, you have to come in perpendicular to the airport from the lake flying about 1.5 miles north/south of the runway, and when you reach the coast, you make a sharp 90 degree turn to line up for the runway. The reason you aren't allowed to turn earlier/take a straight-in approach is because a) noise restrictions and b) Downtown is just five miles South of the airport (if you are landing from the South).

Takeoffs must do the same thing, doing a sharp turn out over the lake immediately after departure.

More to come!
