【31】HX 747 Singapore Airlines 1000th 747
HX B747-412 Singapore Airlines 9V-SMU 1:400

9V-SMU is the 1000th Boeing 747. It was delivered on October 13, 1993 and was retired from service on December 1, 2010.

In its early days, it had two special liveries. It lost the “1000th” livery in the winter of 2003-2004, and then shed the “MEGATOP” paint scheme in the first half of 2006, adopting the standard Singapore Airlines small-letter logo livery. Around the turn of 2008-2009, it was repainted with Singapore Airlines’ new large-letter livery. Two years later, it was honorably retired.

Eight years after its retirement, on February 9, the registration number 9V-SMU was reused, assigned to an A350-941.

YY’s model of this aircraft depicts its state in the late period of its career. HX’s 747 models are affordable with excellent quality. Beyond the price advantage, HX also leads far ahead in terms of mold accuracy, expressiveness, and the meticulousness of details.
The overall shape is excellent, with exquisite details. The landing gear rolls smoothly; the engine printing and tail nozzle details are well done, which are hollowed out while maintaining a good texture. The details on the fuselage are also reflected on the model. Initially I mistook many details for dust or printing defects, but upon checking both sides, I found they were intentionally present. Such a level of meticulousness is in a league of its own, as many rough 1:200 models lack these details.

However, this model has some shortcomings.

HX made mistakes in the verification and selection of colors, especially on the vertical stabilizer and the fuselage letters. Singapore Airlines’ blue is somewhat too bright and light.
In addition, HX’s polishing work has been insufficient recently. The upper deck of the nose is over-polished, making the “forehead”look a bit collapsed.

Nevertheless, at such a low price, it’s hard to find a 747 model of the same excellence. Products at a higher price point are not necessarily of this level. All in all, this model is extremely attractive.

I recall JC making similar colour errors on SQ 787s some years ago - iirc on some 78Xs

Definitely though, regardless of the shortcomings, at the price point of YY/HX - this is the best offering on the market

@Pacific By any chance are you aware from HX/ YY/ SQ if they will release more Singapore Airlines/ Scoot/ Silkair models this year other than the upcoming 9V-SMU, 9V-SMZ and 9V-SGB?
