Will we see more Soviet aircraft in 2026?

Hi everyone,

Do you think this will be the year of Soviet aircraft? With all the new players entering the diecast model scene—bringing out models like the Il-62, Il-76, Tu-204/214, and An-26/24—do you think we’ll start seeing more of these classic and modern Soviet-era beauties being produced?

Or am I the only one eagerly waiting for these stunning aircraft?

Absolutely you are not alone!
There are many Soviet Tu-154s in 1:400 and few Il-86 and Il-96.
I hope for some more, at least those visiting Salzburg until the ban of the year 2007 (noise reduction and the Tu-154, Il-86 and Il-96 engines produced an immense noise especially during landing and takeoff).
Hoping to be wrong but i don't think someone will produce Tu-154s, Il-86s and Il-96s. Maybe the il-62 production will continue (not so interested in it).
Maybe there could be a birth of SSJ-100 and Tu-204/214 production in 1:400 scale: Russia has a desperate need of spare parts for its Airbus and Boeing fleets but with the war, the sanctions and the embargo there will not be replacements for the next years (The Donald allowing...). So Russia is trying, and maybe being able, to produce 100% national components SSJ-100 and Tu-204/214 with the possible entering in service of the Yakovlev MC-21.
But, at the same time, if i don't think that the manufacturers working following license rules will make deals with Russian Sukhoi, Tupolev and Yakovlev; maybe the manufacturers/brand producing models without asking license could give to 1:400 scale a plenty of beautiful Russian models.
Personally speaking i would like Red Wings, Vladivostok-Avia and Transaero Tu-204/214 and all the SSJ-100 flying (wonderful airplane even with a lot of structural, engines and avionics problems).
However the real fact Is that, like 1:500 scale, Soviet models don't sell very well and maybe even Tu-204/214, MC-21 and SSJ-100 would not sell very well. Today collectors prefer Airbus and Boeing models and western old classics like Dc-9, Dc-10, B707 etc. Very sad.
About Tu-154, Il-86 and Il-96 these would be great addition to my Soviet fleet:

We can definitely expect more Phoenix IL-62s, which is great. Patriot is yet to release their Antonov An-12... i've seen no news about them lately, hopefully they'll release something soon. HX also have their IL-76 now, so we might also see something more coming from them.

Thanks everyone for your interest. I really like these Soviet aircraft, and I agree with you all. Personally, the new Il-76 molds are detailed, and I hope to see something different from B-xxxxx soon (also because registrations end). The Tu-154s could sell, there are so many variants still to be made! We also forgot about the Tu-134s. I have two Pandas and they are beautiful! I'm waiting for other colors! And the An-26s, rarely used by GJ/JC. I hope for the Il-96s and Il-62s in regular releases from PX. Let's hope to see some AN-12s soon too, and that the family of Soviet moulds grows!

I had high hopes a few years ago, but honestely I'm not expecting much at all anymore. It has been a couple years since we saw any of these made somewhat regularly, so I dont see why they would suddenly start producing more. My guess is that only the IL-76 and IL-62 will see more than one release this year.

As a collector of soviet types in 1/400 and with over 250 models i too am hopeful for more releases in 2026.The SSJ would be a good addition but i am also hoping for some yak 40s and 42s.Top priority for me would be the an-12s.I think we may hear something regarding these in the next few months. So many more tu-134,154 and il-76,86 still to be made.
