This airframe was in service with Aer Lingus between November 1958 and January 1966. In later years it operated with a few other UK Airlines (Manx Airline, BMI, and Loganair) with the registration G-IOMA.
The Herpa donor model came partly dis-assembled.

Air Anglia was a wholly privately owned, independent British regional airline formed at Norwich Airport in 1970. Created as a result of a merger of three smaller operators, the new entity became an important regional scheduled carrier during the 1970s, serving the Eastern half of Britain. In 1980 Air Anglia merged with three regional rivals to form Air UK.
This particular aircraft, G-BAUR, entered service with Air Anglia in September 1984 and later transferred to Jersey European in May 1995.

This airframe served 15 airlines between June 1958 and April 1996 when it was scrapped.
Manx Airlines operated it for a year between September 1982 and September 1983. It then went on to fly in BMA and Loganair colours but carrying the same reg G-IOMA.
Prior to that the airframe was in use by Aer Lingus for 8 years with registration EI-AKB.313ACE6A-4927-41F1-A886-E40EF74AD847.jpeg

This airframe started life with All Nippon Airways in May 1963 before eventually joining BMA in October 1981 were it served for 2 years. It was finally stored in September 2000.23DED9D6-D810-4B62-853E-C80260FC5998.jpeg

I wonder why the nose of that Aer Lingus looks so different on the picture compared to the nose of the model. Was it a different type of F27 or does the model just not capture the look that well - or is the picture of the real airframe perhaps a bit warped?

The nose wheel was bent inwards when I received it. I tried to ease it back into to correct position but stopped short in fear of breaking it off. It was the same on the BMA. Perhaps this is a slight build issue with Herpa.

It's not just the nosewheel. The Herpa model's nose is too long for a F27-100, or perhaps the cockpit should be further forward? Maybe it represents a Srs.400 perhaps? It does look odd. Need to do these on the Aeroclassics 1/400 mould Mike??

I used this Herpa model to create these customs (F27-200). So a couple of them are technically incorrect. This is due to the fact that i couldn’t find amy suitable Herpa 100 series in 1/200. Apologies to the aficionados.
