The final 747.

The final 747, an 8F, is now fully liveried up and has some additional artwork to commemorate Joe Sutter, lead designer on the 747 project. I believe it has regular Atlas livery on the starboard side and Apex Solutions on the port side. Cue the models.

Very lame work by Atlas! This bird deserved a true special livery. This sticker, despite a good homage to the father of the 747, was already done by Cargolux before, and doesn't celebrate the final Jumbo at all. Quite underwhelming.

Indeed, you could even argue that the Cargolux one was better...

I'd have to agree that the Cargolux is better. It's still sad to me that the 747 is no longer in production, one of the greatest airliners of all time.
Indeed. The 747 revolutionized long-haul travel and is probably the most iconic airplane ever, even for non-avgeeks. I'd love to see NG release the City of Everett, HL7644 and N863GT.

I don't really know a whole lot about 747-8F moulds that are out there in 1/400. Which one (aside from the upcoming NG) would be the best choice?

Honestly, none are ideal. As I tend to avoid PH as a whole, the JC/GJ is my preference, but @pons399 will have a much better explanation of both moulds' faults.

It all comes down to whether you're more tolerant of a smooth nose/short nosegear/subpar printing (JC) or a totally inaccurate wing-fuselage joint (PH). Basically multiple smaller issues vs one massive issue. Unless you really want this ASAP, I'd say just wait for the inevitable NG.

The front section shape (specially the hump) of the JC/GJ mould is completely off, so I'd pick the Phoenix version, even if also not ideal

Maybe JC will honour this historical moment by making a 747-100 N7470 city of Everett roll out livery with the logos
Under the BB400 brand with the mould,
I hope that they will

Despite the unspectacular livery, I can’t help but to like that plane with the half-half design on each side. And the Joe Sutter tribute gives it some cool understatement, I think. So when it’s out from NG, I’ll definitely get it. 🤩
