T700 DIY Turboshaft Engine Model -The Iconic Black Hawk helicopter

Built this T700 turboshaft engine model together with a friend — and it was a blast! It took the two of us about two hours to finish, and we had a great time working on it side by side. Definitely one of the more enjoyable builds I’ve done recently.

You can see the level of detail in the parts — pretty impressive for a model of this scale. Everything fit together nicely and made the build feel really satisfying.



Here’s the finished engine. It’s motorized, and when you turn it on, it even makes a sound that mimics how it would run in the air. A very cool feature that really brings it to life. Honestly, this was a super fun project all around.

Just to add some background info about the real-world engine:

The T700 turboshaft engine is widely used in both military and civilian helicopters. On the military side, it's found in the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk, SH-60 Seahawk, McDonnell Douglas AH-64 Apache, and Bell AH-1W SuperCobra. In civilian aviation, it powers helicopters like the Bell 214ST and Sikorsky S-70C.

There's also a turboprop version of this engine, the CT7, which is used in commuter aircraft such as the Saab 340 and CASA/IPTN CN-235.
