Less plane spotting and more getting addicted to Apple Maps on a random afternoon, but this airport outside of Moscow is a little interesting
The classic jetliner fan in me can't get used to the lines of modern airliners.

Thanks. The sun wasn't fully out most of the time allowing for slightly lower shutter speeds.Wonderful prop discs in broad daylight. Very sharp result too!
Did you use an ND filter on your lens for this one? And may I ask for the EXIF?![]()

I had the NDs with me, but no time to get them on. Had my tele lens mounted but needed to change for the short lense when the crew decided to use the taxiway (the 130 is the max our taxiway can handle)
EXIF on this are 1/60s, f22, ISO100 at 63mm
The following is 1/250s at f11:

BRO!I know what you mean, but this is an interesting impression to me. One of my younger avgeek friends says he doesn't like the old airliners because their engines are too tiny in proportion to the airframe! I don't share this impression, but it is interesting how our tastes are formed by what is contemporary to us. I actually happen to quite like the lines and overall posture of the A220, and especially the E2 series if you have seen that aircraft head-on. But I like previous generations of aircraft too. I grew up with the last decade of the L-1011 and that will always be my favorite.
Different tastes for sure.
Nothing beats the sight and sound of a 707 with its four (unhushed) JT3Ds idling and slowly spooling up to full thrust. And when it's got a skin that can tell stories, even better. This would be the ultimate airliner for me - I'd give a full year of FRA's movements for a single movement of this.

Another head on shot of an awesome type that sadly is history...

And just another head on of an airframe that is still active today

That's a KC-707Ah the KC-135... The jet our grandfathers, fathers and children now fly.
It says a lot when I'm not even old enough to have seen a KC-135 with JT-3D'sThat's a KC-707![]()
