A very special package arrived today. Twin sets are quite rare, and only one exists of an Australian airline. So when I saw it pop up on eBay last week, I knew I had to get it. $130 including shipping and 6 days later, these two aircraft arrived.
VH-CZT, an Ansett Australia 737-33A wearing the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics Mascots Livery featuring the tree mascots of the Sydney games, Syd the Platypus, Millie the Echidna, and Olly the Kookaburra.

And VH-BZF, an Ansett Australia Boeing 767-324ER wearing the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics Torch Relay livery. This remains, 24 years after being released, the only release of an Ansett 767-300ER in 1:400 Scale. VH-BZF was one of only 2 767-300ERs that served with Ansett, being delivered in 1996 and flew until the airline collapsed in 2001, VH-BZL a 767-35HER joined in June 2001. VH-BZI (767-33AER) was undergoing EIS checks when Ansett collapsed, and VH-BZM (767-35HER) was delivered to Melbourne on Wednesday the 12th of September 2001, the day before Ansett collapsed and was placed into Voluntary Administration. The 737s, 747s, 767s and BAe 146s never flew for Ansett again, while the A320s did when Ansett Mk II was established in October 2001 until March 2002 when the company was liquidated.

The 767-300ERs where registered to Ansett International Pty Ltd and mostly flew international routes, notably Sydney-Nadi and Melbourne-Hong Kong. However, the 763s did sometimes operate domestic legs, often to reposition the aircraft for its next international service. BZF's last flight was AN53 from Sydney to Melbourne on the 13th of September 2001.
BZF carried the Olympic flame from Athens to Singapore and then onto Guam back in 2000. Once the flame got to Auckland, it was put on A320-211 VH-HYN which wore the same livery as BZF and flew it to Uluru.
Looking at these 2 models makes me wonder who will be the official airline for the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympics. It will probably be Qantas.
These are absolutely stunning additions and look great on the Ansett end of my Australian shelf among the other Starmark Livery Ansett aircraft that I have. These 2 take my Ansett collection to 8, and there will be no stopping the growth of my Ansett fleet as you can never have too many Ansetts
