Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

The calm before the storm…I say awaiting my black friday models🤣

Scooped these two up stupid cheap from Waffle a couple days ago. The first being a Piedmont and USAir hybrid livery 767-200ER reg N648US. This was a 2005 JetX release. JetX released two hybrid 767-200ERs in 2005, the other being N650US. That one will get into my collection another day.

Next is my third USAir MD-82, this one being another one from JetX. This is my second USAir JetX MD-82, the first being a matte finish and this one being a shiny chrome. N802US was a 2006 release.

I'll share more about it here later.:)

Actually, this batch arrived on the 26th, but a serious fire was breaking out in Tai Po, Hong Kong at the time, causing many deaths and injuries.I want to mourn for them. :( That's why I delayed posting this until today.

Lovely set of arrivals!
And yes, our thoughts too for those affected by that fire - world over we watched in horror and it was a terrible sight - power to those who survived to be able to rebuild their lives, and all the first respondents who risked their lives to battle the fire. May be those responsible be brought to justice, and corrective measures taken.

also, not fully a “new arrival” but have you guys ever lost a model and re-found it?🤣 This guy was still stuck at my parents house in a cabinet that used to hold my collection. I’m counting this as a new model as I had even forgotten I had it. Thankfully it’s a fun one! both vertical stabilizers were broken off when I found it but I have reglued them and they look just fine to me

This is a Delta Connection (ASA) CRJ-700 (N740EV) in the 25th Anniversary ASA “Silver & Soaring” livery. This was a February of 2007 release by GeminiJets.

New arrivals at a rather sorrow time -

A340-300s

AV400 China Airlines B-18805

I am rather skeptical by AV400 Plum blossom - as CI A340 goes they should have been stuck with 1st gen Blossom but AV400 application looks more like the 2nd gen - which lacks that manual touch and looks way too plastic...

Picture below with HX B-18210 (Same generation blossom) shall show the difference...

The wingflex is infinity superior than their old ones😄

They arrived quite a few days ago, but with the city mourns to the devastating Wang Fuk Court fire, I just don't feel comfortable to share until now...

Postman nocked my door today bringing 3 new models.

First Swissair MD-81 (HB-INN) from Phoenix. Great model.
1 Swissair MD-81_4.JPG

Second model is "iconic" Pan Am B747 N747PA HX models. Have been waiting a long time now! Looking very good IMO.
2 Pan Am B747-124_10.JPG

Third is Lufthansa A340-600 (D-AIHF) from YY models. I have flown on it so that is the reason of buying it. But the cockpit windows look strange to me.(?)

Wonderful models! Agreed about the cockpit windows on the A340. The outer windows seem to be too big!

There's a Fokkery theme to my content this week ;)

Mandarin Airlines has had a varied history. Begun as a long-haul carrier to get around diplomatic issues with the PRC, in 1999 it merged with China Airlines domestic subsidiary Formosa Airlines to become a wholly regional carrier. Formosa already had a pair of Fokker 100s, delivered in 1995, of which B-12291 was the first. Another four ex-TAM examples were added in 2004. The fleet began to wind down in 2007 with the last three leaving in 2009. B-12291 and all but one of the six went to Contact Air International of Germany and then OLT where she became D-AFKD. All 6 would go on Kazakhstan for JSC Bek Air in 2013. This was a 400 scale release for Dream Air of Taiwan in 2017 and is a great example of a more unusual retailer exclusive.

Instead of “Black Friday”, it is “Black Week” here where the program runs a week before Black Friday.

First is a Mexicana B757-2Q8 N758MX by NG with the green tail. This 757 will join with its black-tail sistership in my collection. The real frame spent around 9 years with the airline and is still active as a converted freighter at Fedex. Tbh this model wasn’t discounted as compared to the usual price but it is a missing piece in my 757 fleet.
IMG_5173.jpeg

The next 4 arrivals originate from Aviation Megastore Holland - which is my first purchase from them. I have been looking at the A320 pair since last year’s Black Friday but was somehow kept off. This year I found out the sale 2 days after the newsletter was sent out and it could have been that i missed some interesting models. Alas the last collectible show had set me back quite a lot. First and foremost is this pair of Tianjin Airlines by Skywings using PM mould with 2 different engine types: in the background A320-232 B-1850 with IAE engine and in the focus of my lens A320-214 B-1659. Both airframe is still in service with the airline since it rolled out the factory.
IMG_5255.jpeg

A model which i passed my opportunity before but should be included in my collection - T’way Air A330-343 HL8501 by PH. The airline will soon renamed after new investor came. This was the only model which did not came mint: both wings were not glued well.
IMG_5256.jpeg

Another widebody from AvMg sale is this Star Alliance livery - the first in my collection as I rarely collect special schemes. Introducing Air India B777-337ER VT-ALJ by PH. This one turns out to be the most value-for-money in the batch as no defects discovered.

IMG_5257.jpeg

I used to give myself a criteria where I would only collect partly (or fully)-chromed and special Tristars by NG. The scope expanded so this short-bodied version is a welcoming addition. I thought quite a while before deciding on adding this model. United Airlines L1011-500 N514PA in the Saul Bass livery by NG.
IMG_5253.jpeg

Finally, a non-Black Friday model but was well offered - Cathay Pacific A350-1041 B-LXA in the NG Ultimate Packing. Since the box was so sturdy, the seller only wrapped a thin plastic cover outside the box with extra shock-absorption package within the box and not outside the model. The model came with a loose front gear. The seller appreciated private feedback before the actual one was posted. NG used the wrong winglet for this model btw.
IMG_5163.jpeg

That’s all for my Black Week haul. I have seen that US collectors enjoyed great discount this year and look forward to seeing the unboxings.

That Saul Bass TriStar is outstanding - one of NG’s best

Unfortunately, the retailer (Dream air) has already disappeared.

Just received this model today.

This model is okay but has one engine slightly angled up and I noticed a big colour difference of the fuselage compared to the previous V Australia model from Phoenix. Here’s the two models next to each for comparison.
