VH-EBM apparently only wore this Boxing Kangaroo tail logo for only 5 days, from October 3-8, 1983. It appears it was added to honour the victory of the crew of the yacht Australia II. They had just won the America's Cup, beating the Americans for the first time in 132 years. She flew QF4 on October 3rd carrying the crew and their trophy on the routing San Francisco-Honolulu-Sydney-Melbourne. EBM had been Qantas' 13th 747, delivered on August 15, 1977 and named 'City of Paramatta'. Her final service with QF was on Feb 10, 1991. She subsequently joined United as N161UA until October 26, 2000. Her career in the 2000s saw her flying for an assortment of airlines from Afghanistan, Armenia, Nigeria, Libya. She appears to have ended her days stored at Tehran in 2012.

I just acquired the Continental DC-10-10 by Aeroclassics from a few months back Registration N68044. At a glance this model looks decent but up close the finish is extremely poor.. I would suspect most copies have similar issues with the QC and would bet getting an exchange would leave me in the same position. Just know while we debate window lines and cockpit window placements from other manufacturers, AC again seems to get away with murder.

Indeed a very crappy quality control. Those engines look like the skin of an orange!
