Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

I have been adding some models as of late but wasn't able to share them with you. Today, I would share some of them and would like to start first with models which I bought without their original boxes (again!) - I took the risk and most of them came in intact.

Starting with Air Florida B737-2T4 Adv N53AF by GJ, which I just received today. At first I thought the postman had lost it because it was marked "as delivered" yesterday but didn't show up. Luckily it was here!

Moving on with a set of models I received around 1-2 weeks ago - a British Airways B737-5L9 G-MSKB by GJ. The aircraft featured a Hybrid Landor livery and was operated by Maersk Air UK when she was leased to BA. Astonishingly, my first ever B735 - which is the missing piece for my B737 Classic lineup.

Then, another 737 Original, this time coming from Canadia - Nordair B737-242C C-FNAQ by AC. It had some dirt marks when viewing from the top but otherwise looked fine from the sides.

It's T-tail time - a first DC-9 for quite a while (I used to have 1 before but sold it) - Delta DC-9-32 N1267L by GJ in the Widget scheme - the DL scheme I most fond of.

And the only unfortunate victim of the whole set (port v. stab felt out - dried glue although the seller wrapped very carefully and the v.stab is still inside the bubble) but also the most interesting frame - Austrian DC-9-32 OE-LDA by AC. The shiny chrome of this 2007-made model is much more shiny than many of the recent releases by the brand.

To conclude this post - a model which I just picked up from a collector this afternoon - the astonishing Alaska Airlines B737-490 N792AS by GJ in the original special "King Salmon" livery. The livery was later applied to a B738 - which right now featured a more elaborate version named "Salmon People".

That concludes today' s post of incoming narrowbodies. Which models leave you with the most impression in the batch?

so many great classics there :)

Last new arrival for a while, but I had come across a model on eBay, one that I had been wanting for a long while. I noticed that it was listed by Northeast Diecast, so I decided to buy directly from their website.

Firstly, I present the PIA A310 AP-BEB by Aeroclassics. I was never able to find this model, which makes sense given that it only had a production run of 100 models. Very nice, although the livery application isn't the best for such a simple scheme.

Secondly, I present the PIA ATR 42 AP-BHO by JC Wings. It is one of 5 different PIA ATR's that exist in 1/400 scale. I am impressed at the tail artwork still being well done at such small size. It is quite amusing to see the ATR next to the 747, the size difference is quite something.

Overall very happy with this model purchase, but a $120 tariff price has somewhat soured this purchase of 2 very important models to me and my collection.

New arrival for me:

Polar Air Cargo
Boeing 747-100SF
N853FT

Boeing 747-100SF Polar Air Cargo N853FT.jpg

Custom model based on a Northwest Cargo donor (see it here!!!) by Dragon Wings.
Custom work done by my custom-maker friend here in my city.
It seems the tail decal ended up being a bit too small to the tail area. The fuselage decals were also placed too aft... But I can live with these issues.
Couldn't find the BigBird version for a nice price, so this will do for the time being :)

Mind if I ask what exactly is your collecting criteria, cuz it seems to be a very broad spectrum 😭

I must admit that the spectrum seemed wide but it can be summarized into these 4 categories (i think i did “violate” the principle but couldn’t hold myself when a nice model is offered at a good price):

“Firstly, active aircraft of flag carriers, then secondary airlines throughout the world, with suitable equipments flying to my fictional diorama airport. I tend to have only one representative for each airline.

Secondly, aircrafts from my home country (Vietnam) carriers. I do not buy all releases though, because my priority is for the first.

Thirdly, aircraft for my fictional airline, based on my fictional islands. (The core (major) fleet includes 757 - largest portion, BAE 146, Fokker 70/100, ATR42/72, B732 - there are other minor types like 736, 737 Classic also)

Lastly are the interesting aircraft of the past time (a.k.a classic models)”

This is just a shortened version of the whole post discussing collectors’ criteria for their models, which was surprisingly shared nearly 3 years ago.
