I may be unlucky.. but how is it that I can almost bet 2 to 3 out of 5 GJ’s I buy still come with problems?
I've always had the feeling that when a retailer starts to feel that a customer is making excessive returns, that instead of telling them, they simply start to ship out more and more models with QC issues in a passive aggressive attempt to make them shop elsewhere. Psychologically, it works, and for the retailer, they can simply blame USPS, FedEx, etc.

Edit: Not pointing any fingers, but just an observation from personal and others' experiences with collectors I've chatted with.

I still think you’re unlucky at times, unfortunately. Still haven’t received a GJ in this bad of a condition in well over a year and a half and I buy more of them than most on this forum. Definitely want to hear others’ experiences though to see if you’re an odd one out still, or if it’s more consistent.

Also frustrating that the damage is almost, if not completely, irreparable…
The QC issues vary from broken parts to paint chips or blemishes. I've received a fair share of intact models that have had paint issues, that other collectors may have accepted as a "perfect" model. Over time you learn to let some of these issues go and not make a fuss but rather appreciate the overall beauty of the model

I chatted with a retailer at a show and pointed out broken stabilizers and paint chips on a Gemini 200 UAL 727 that he had in stock and he asked me if I wanted to buy it and I politely told him I would rather find one in better condition. He offered to just glue it back together and sell it to me and that most come with those problems and that he has given up and just sells them as is no matter the condition.
