Thought I would make a thread for people to showcase their favorite models they own in 400 scale.

My favorite models have to be my 4 GJ United Express Bombardier CRJ-550’s I recently acquired, If you can’t tell based on my profile picture, United Express is my favorite airline and I love regional jets/props.

My favourite is a custom I made many years back of the Airlines of South Australia F.27 Friendship I flew on at the end of a school trip back in 1982. It turned out that the Captain was a friend of the family, I earned much status with my classmates that day! He let the Fokker off its leash on the way back. It was an awesome trip!

Gotta love a model with a story!

I find it interesting how meaningful RJs are for many aviation enthusiasts in the U.S. I grew up in a different country and time. There were no RJs in my childhood, but DC-9s and 727s. Then I moved to Houston in the 2000s, and RJs were everywhere, but they certainly were not the main attraction.

But I do get it, tons of cities in the U.S. are served primarily by RJs, so for many, Embraers and CRJs are what DC-9s and 727s were for me. How times change...

As for my favorite 1:400 model of all time, the Viasa DC-10 exclusive for AdamJets (GeminiJets mold, LatinClassics box). Rare, exotic, a nice model in spite of its age, and wearing the livery that the flag carrier of the country in which I grew up used during my childhood.

I have four of them. Wrote an article about my favorite models a while ago, too. The list hasn't changed.

Nice looking models! The United CRJ550 may be my favorite model, but my all time favorite aircraft (that I wish was made in 400 scale) would be the United Embraer 120 Brasilia. I am fairly young, so I grew up flying RJ’s and E120’s out of my local airport, which makes them particularly nostalgic for me. Also a fan of them due to their unique look and small size. That sort of explains why I like the CRJ550. And as I said, united express is my favorite airline, due to nostalgia and unique character.

Two of my favorite models I own in my collection are the SMA MetroJet 737-200 and the AC US Airways A320 :)

Those are two nice models! I quite enjoy 1990s and 2000s era aircraft as well, (my favorite aircraft, which I have mentioned in other threads before, is the United Express E120, a model that I would definitely purchase several of if they were ever made in 400 scale)

I think in hindsight it’s really easy to have overlooked regional aircraft amongst the bigger jets… I know flying out of Detroit as a kid in the 2000’s seeing all the Northwest DC-10’s and 747’s for as far as the eye could see is very much a core memory for me. But seeing the CRJ-200, CRJ-900, RJ-85’s and SAABs by the dozens in the Bowling Shoe was almost equally as special. Without these little jets the show is missing something.

i’d pick up a United E120 if that ever comes out in the scale! I rememeber taking a trip to sacramento in 2014 and seeing E120s around for a brief time and not knowing what kind of plane it was. Of course, this was the tail end of their service but I fell in love and tried to make a Sacramento model airport (still have it sitting at my parents house!) and realized they’ve never been made in 400 scale.

I hope one does get made. I need them for my Retro RDM project, and would still use them at my modern airport (albeit in the Unicon livery)
