At first I was planned to posted in "Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase" post, but in halfway I thought maybe a new post could be better.

You can read @YesterAirlines's review first, which inspired me a lot and played an important role of reference:

Alright, let's start.

Richard's review actually make me doubt on should I purchased this one - ¥325 isn't a small number - but the decision was quickly made after I came across a guy who sold a second-hand one on Xianyu at only ¥180. Like how I buy that Phoenix 747-200 - if they're selling at ¥300 I will definitely be hesitated, but at half price there is no hesitation.

At glance the mould did looked gorgeous. But looked at details there are still something annoying.

I didn't met the problem Richard have though, or should I said not that much. The starboard cheatline did still a bit lower than the port, but it's far less obvious than on Richard's sample:

But you still feel the entire model is kind of off, with some minor asymmetrical. Alas, nothing perfect.

Plus, I feel the cross section of the fuselage isn't that accurate when compare with models that are not revised the nose.

The NLG tyrehubs are also in the right place:

But you can also find that the nose shape of the mould, despite definitely better than before, still feels a bit off. Compare with HX's 747-400/300/SUD mould, which is imo one of the most accure mould when it comes to the Jumbo's front end:

Apperantly, the nose is still a bit too long, and the underside of the nosecone is still not "full" enough. But imo the biggest problem is the windshield and forehead - the forehead is way too high, and the windshield is in relatively a bit too low too.

Quote in Richard's photo, the old mould seems to be better in this aspect, the forehead looks lower and the windshield is higher:

And look around the model, you'll find the new nose looks very strange in some angles. Like, eh, what tf are this two dents on the "cheek" of the aircraft? I don't know the Jumbos have dimples.

tbh, The real aircraft did have the "trend" to have these dents, but far less obvious:

Also, another small problem, the rear cargo door is printed with very obvious misalignment on the wing joint fairing:

Still, there is no doubt that NG's 747SP mould is the best mould on the market, but that's mostly because it's also the only "modernized" mould available. There's still a lot to be improved, and many detailed problems that can be fixed.

Plus, HX/YY made a verbal promise in a comment on Bilibili, said they will made their 747SPs "probably in this year". Maybe we'll see a new modernized 747SP mould released in the near future.

I believe they got it right on the 747-8i. Couldn’t they just use the same nose on that one and replicate it on other types? They must be using 3D printing for modeling and the same CAD designs could be used in whole or part to make other types.

I also think that the engine cowls are too big on NG’s SP. Good to hear HX/YY are going to do an SP. If so, the comparisons will be very interesting!

NG's engines are too large, yes. And in consequence the pylons are off too.
Regarding HX, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything better unless they rethink their engineering approach.
