I thought I had another photo of a DC-9-51 in the hybrid scheme at IND on 5/30/1982..Indy 500 race day (it was here on a charter), but I can't find it.

There's good news and bad news: the good news is that I found the photo I was looking for..Republic DC-9-51 N781NC at IND on "Race Day, 1982", the bad news is that it's in full Republic paint, not the hybrid: Again, sorry for the poor quality...these didn't scan from prints very well.
