NG Models Hawaiian A321neo disappointed with the colors

I just received my NG Hawaiian A321 model and I must say they did an amazing job with the mold and everything but they missed the color gradient on the tail details and titles.I was so disappointed and felt with the beautiful livery they would have done it right. Gemini has a bad mold with the unproportioned engines, but they nailed the colors and details on the tail and titles better than NG. if anyone ordered it please let me know if you feel the same about it. I was so excited to see this release and receiving it and it's not a bad model but I was hoping the livery colors and hues would be in point.

Ouch that's sad
Do you have photos too share?
Been planning to get a couple

Sounds like sloppy work on NG's part. A quick internet search will allow you to look up samples of Hawaiian's brand guidelines, where the exact colour values are listed in various colour models. I'm guessing they probably missed it or something. I'd imagine NG has open access to brand guidelines, or at least the livery, logo and colour application portions of those guidelines, from the airlines that they're partnering with, ie. China Southern, Xiamen Air, Hong Kong Airlines, etc.

If you're going to post a thread complaining about colours then please post some photos. Otherwise this is just a nonsense thread. This is the 2nd time in the past few days this has happenned. We're all carrying powerful computers around in our pockets fitted with high resolution cameras and access to the magical internet so it isn't difficult!

Here are the official shots, the real thing and the Gemini:

I was simply asking anyone who else gets the model for their opinion as there are plenty of photos for people to see on the internet. A photo cannot capture the real deal in front of you in my opinion. However, thank you for the suggestion. This is why I hardly post anything

If you'd like people's opinions best to provide all the info you can so they can make one. Half of the responses asked for photos and it looks like the images above provide plenty of food for thought on the point you raised.

My friend has the Gemini, it looks fine. The mould is better on the NG, but the purple at the bottom of the tail looks like blue, and the transition to pink looks too sharp. This could be the lighting, but the colors on the back flowers look too light on the NG. It’s not a big problem for me, but I can see why it bothers people.

This entire thread is based off official release photos.
Which is pointless - considering all images released by all manufacturers are affected by lighting, photo editing, the screen you're viewing it on - just like all and any photo posted anywhere online

I agree with @YesterAirlines and that unless you have comparative photos TAKEN BY THE SAME CAMERA SETTINGS, BY THE VERY SAME CAMERA, UNDER IDENTICAL LIGHTING AND ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS, AND PREFERABLY AT THE SAME TIME IN THE SAME PHOTO, these discussions tend to be pure speculation

I'm not sure I made that point :)

I think you can still see the differences. Ignoring the colour the gradient change in the photos is easy to see. In this case I'd say Gemini's does look more accurate but getting this sort of thing 100% accurate on a 400 scale model is very difficult.

Color on models varies widely. Every manufacturer, I feel, tends to use different reference photos which, like @planes_on_a_shelf alluded to, equates to different conditions on lighting, weather, etc. Heck, even the camera sensor can be another variable if you want to get technical! There’s way too much that can affect the color, which is why I’m not so picky about it. Every release will have a slight variation in color, some more noticeable than others. As long as it isn’t egregious, I’m cool with it.

With regard to the Hawaiian models, I think both look saturated to an extent, mainly on the tail section and Hawaiian titles. But you definitely need both side by side and an IRL photo taken in exact conditions to nail down an exact rating.

My 321 and 332 are scheduled to land tomorrow. Though I don't have anything to compare to.
Yes, smooth gradients aren't easy to accomplish so I'm curious to see them up close.

The colors are not 100%, but I think display very well. Lighting is key too, I took one picture in slight shade and one in direct sunlight.

From a mould perspective, this one easily beats GJ, so that alone gets my money. One thing that GJ does better (even though the engines are oversized, is the green ring around the fanblades on the inside of the engine)

I also received the A330s, and only to add into the display for fleet purposes. As always, the passenger window height is too high, and immediately comes to my attention and I can't unsee it.

The real flowers seem to be purple. NG have them almost red, GJ have them almost pink. No one really nailed it 🥴

NG looks oversaturated. I think GJ did a better job, despite also missing the spot. Mould wise, NG wins

I have both the Hawaiian 787 releases, and the newer one is brighter in coloration than the original release side by side and would say the first rendition is probably better. Unfortunately, I cannot provide photos at this time.
I have the 2020 A332 release, and the later 787 - unfortunately, as usual, both are in deep storage 😐
I was thinking of picking up the new A332 and the A321neo.......
