NG Models Boeing 747-100 - 747-400???

NG have posted pics of the Lite versions of the Air China B744s, regs B-2468 and B-2447.
Aren't these already the ones in the updated mould? The shape of the nose section looks different than the blank B747-400 version...

Sorry, I'm late.😆
I'd say the Air Chinas definitely look different around the nose. A lot closer to the real thing (artwork withstanding), but still with room for imrovement until we get to what once was NG quality standard.

If they decide to improve. I haven't seen them improve the 767-400, 767-300, 767-200 as of yet or any word they intend too.... If they're releasing this model as it stands a year delayed... That makes me concerned.

I know there’s a saying “Good things come to those who wait”, but sometimes NG pushes this idea too much! Can we at least get a 747 release in 2025?

Absolutely, it’s why I don’t bother waiting for certain releases because it could very well be that long!

However, I am getting tired of the lack of solid 747 releases... There is almost no excuse at this point because we all know JC/Gemini are sitting on a good mold that they for whatever reason elect not to use.. Well, we do know why I suppose. They don't want to reduce the value of classic releases on the secondhand market.

If I am looking at NG Website it looks like we will see the first usage of the 744 Mould with the may release as a Air China 744 is now listed as coming soon with May 2025 as release month

As far as I can tell so far, I would argue the JC/Gemini mold is superior to the new NG mold. I hope I'm proved wrong.

To be fair to JC I don't think that is the reason. It is more because Gemini block or have historically at least blocked releases for certain airlines (especially US releases) and because a lot of the people selecting JC's releases in the near past are young and have little understanding of aviation pre-2010. The Air Canada 747-400 for example Sam got made had been rejected by JC as not popular enough. If you don't think you can sell an Air Canada 747 that rules out 95% of 747s ever made!

Thats a really fair point.. Those Air Canadas ended up being really popular though right? If so, wouldn't that blow a hole in the logic that these wouldn't sell? I see a huge demand for the 1990-2010 airline era.

I'm not sure. They were only sold in a few places and the production run was low. I think West Coast Diecast still has quite a few, but that makes it not a fair test. If they'd been sold more widely I'd have expected them to be more popular.

Here's a quick comparison of 747s from NG using their own images. I'm not convinced the latest release at the bottom is different to the Asiana, but it's hard to tell without cheatlines. They've also modified the cockpit print. Included a 747-8I for good measure.

At the moment for me the best 747-400 is the HX mould. The length of the JC undercarriage still bothers me.

The two 747-4's look the same to me.. I agree the cheatline makes it harder to tell but I don't think there is any difference. It does look like they may have adjusted the cockpit printing though. (Or the cheatline disguises the flaws that makes it look improved).
