NG issues with white fuselage

Hi there

I'm starting to get a little concerned about several NG models. After just very few years, the white on the fuselage starts to turn yellowish. It's not alarming (yet), but this doesn't happen with other brands. Could it be that NG uses a lower quality white paint that ages faster?
Are they using by default a less white shade of paint ? I have all the models on display in such a way that they are never exposed to direct sunlight or overly strong light.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

I have never noticed this on any of my NG Models but I keep mine in a UV protected case. Can you provide photos?

Where is the model kept? sunlight will yellow things overtime of course but if it’s being kept in the right places the. that’s worrisome…

It's kept in my shelves and they do get sunlight, although not direct. But this is quite interesting because my other models aren't yellowing.
The yellowing effect on this Britannia seems to have stopped. It's not even yellow, it's just a slightly cream white by now

interesting, perhaps wasn’t clear-coated enough from the factory on those early models so the sun can have more of an impact? i’d want to see the rest of the theoretical data there before full conclusions are made

I have not had the same issues with my older ones probably because of how I have them displayed. It's really not that bad if it doesn't progress further as white airplanes in real life will yellow a tad.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the models haven't yellowed, I believe that's just the color that NG was using at the time and that they have adjusted their typical fuselage base color. In the case of the Hawaiian A330 on the linked post, compare it to the stock photos in the MADd. They are pretty similar, and look a tinge 'more yellow' than models being produced more recently. Those pictures would have been taken right around the time of production.

I'd say the same is true for the Britannia.

I have the Hawaiian A330 in my collection, and it's never been on display in direct sunlight. I rotate what's on display in my collection, and this one hasn't seen the shelf for more than a month of two since I got it the month after it hit U.S. markets. So I don't think that sunlight, or production issues play any role in the difference in color.

It's no more or less different than conversations that compare the color gray used on either the battleship gray United models, or the bowling shoe Northwest models. Just my two cents, and I'm willing to take a beating from anyone who disagrees, have a good one!

Completely missed this other thread, but that Delta vs. Hawaiian comparison is kind of funny. This yellowish off white would fit perfectly to a Delta model as Delta's "white" is far from a bright white.

I agree with this 100% The Delta A350 euro white almost has a cream tinge up close on the "Older" A350's if you want to call it that.

I have indeed noticed this with my Iberia A350 by NG. It’s the most exposed to sunlight (even if it’s small amounts), though. I haven’t had it where I used to place it ever since I noticed.
