In honor of today’s Big Game, here’s a brief look at some of the planes NFL teams use. Some teams use their own aircraft to fly to and from games, while others charter planes from the Big Three airlines (e.g. Minnesota Vikings travel on Delta, except in international games where they have flown on Virgin Atlantic).
For the two teams playing today, the New England Patriots currently have not one, but two team planes. N36NE and N225NE both wear this Patriots livery, which features the team’s six Super Bowl trophies — all of them were won with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick as their quarterback and head coach, respectively. Their last win and appearance came in 2019.

I had the pleasure of seeing one of them in Nashville in 2024, as they were in town for an away game that weekend.

The Seahawks currently don’t have a plane flying with their colors, but they did during the 1980s. Named Seahawk One, it flew with Alaska Airlines up until 1991 when it was repainted.

Technically this isn’t a team plane but it was flown with their colors, as in 2014 Boeing painted a 747-8 freighter in support of the team who made the Super Bowl that year. They won the game in dominating fashion. Their last appearance was in 2015, which they lost to New England, so this game is a rematch 11 years in the making.

Other NFL teams that have had special liveries include:
- Atlanta Falcons on an AirTran Boeing 717 (N891AT).
- Arizona Cardinals on a U.S. Airways A319 (N837AW). They currently have a dedicated Boeing 777 for charter flights.
- Carolina Panthers on a U.S. Airways A319 (N717UW).
- Indianapolis Colts on an AirTran Boeing 717 (N936AT). They also have a couple of Gulfstreams and a Boeing 737-700 (N101TD) used for charters.
- Las Vegas Raiders on an Allegiant A319 (N328NV). This livery is active.
- New York Jets on a JetBlue A320 (N746JB). A few iterations have been painted over the years. The latest version is active.
- Philadelphia Eagles on a U.S. Airways A319 (N709UW).
- Pittsburgh Steelers on a U.S. Airways A319 (N733UW).
Those are all the ones I’ve been able to find — if there are any NFL fans here that know of liveries I’ve missed, please add them below!
