My Year-long model airport project

We
Nice pics of a great diorama! Very cool to see all those heavies at their gates  (y)
And... do I see the Orbis DC-10 parked there?
Believe it or not, most of my models are regional jets and narrowbodies! I’m definitely trying to get more heavies though. you sure are right about the Orbis! It’s one of my rarest models in the collection.

How does one simply obtain the Orbis 🤔
I got the Orbis gifted to me by my dad a year ago, he got it from his lawyer, Lesra Martin, who represents Orbis as their lawyer I believe. Now while my dad and his lawyer were talking, he mentioned that he worked for Orbis, and my dad responded that his son (me) loved planes and collected models. Wouldn’t you know it, but guess who also collected model airplanes? Lesra Martin! He gave my dad one of the few rare Gemini Jets Orbis company exclusive MD-10’s to give to me and the rest is history!

The guy who gave it to my dad is a very interesting person, he actually had a movie made about him and a person he represented in court called “The Hurricane”, it’s a great film. So yeah that’s how I got my Orbis MD-10, probably one of the most interesting model acquisition stories I’ve heard.

This is such a cool story! And a great model too. You got lucky with that one :D

A lot has changed since I’ve last updated this thread. I’ve completely revamped the terminal, added a new Commuter section, began a large expansion project, and am in progress on replacing the current cargo gates with a new concourse for American and JetBlue. I’ll get some photos posted of the new revamp soon.

More notably, I’ve began thinking about the traffic Seattle North receives. What are your guys thoughts on changing the airport from having just modern aircraft to mixing modern and modern-classic aircraft (ex: older aircraft in newer liveries like the United Express Q200, Delta DC-9-51, etc)

As long as you don't mix eras (ex: Delta DC-9 next to a Delta A220) i'm OK with it 😁

I feel like if its a fictional airport, it should be able to make as little sense as you like. I have set myself limitations for my fictional airports however.

NQX for example, I only have schedules dating back to 1989 (Qantas International services), and I don't allow myself to use liveries or aircraft that aren't in service anymore for an airline that still exists (as QF's 1989 timetable was 747s and 767s, I've transferred those to 787s and 737s respectively). And I use QF's 1989 timetable as it had the most international destinations from Cairns.

However, if its an airline that doesn't exist anymore, Ansett for example, I can use what ever aircraft of theirs in my collection that I want to, even though, I do stick to the 1994-2002 Starmark livery as I use their 2001 timetable.

But I certainly don't have something like a DC-3 operating flights from the 1950s next to an A220, that would just look weird.
