Hey everyone! Don’t want to copy JJ here on this thread, but I thought I would make this thread to share my existing East Asia collection and update it as I get more models.
I’ve had an interest in East Asian airlines for quite some time, especially on Japanese carriers like ANA, IBEX, and FDA. I also chose this region as I am learning the Japanese language and have several friends from there, and one who visits often and put me onto the idea of collecting Japanese models. The collection officially started last summer, with the purchase of an ANA 777-200. I have made two Random Model Airport updates for Japan, one on my channel (Matsumoto) and one on JJ’s (Ibaraki). I’ve been meaning to make a few more of these updates, and will do so when I get a few new Japanese models like the ANA Q400. I run one full time airport based in Japan at the moment, Sendai Airport, a larger airport I have done one update for and plan to make a regularly scheduled series.
While JJ’s collection focuses on East Asia as a whole (China, Korea, Philippines, Japan etc), mine is pretty much entirely focused on Japan. Though I do have a growing Chinese, Korean and Taiwanese fleet, most of those are all aircraft that either fly to the US or Japan.
The collection is fairly small, but just like my collection as a whole, grows in rapid bursts.
Anyhow, the first model I ever acquired for this fleet was all the way back in 2021 when I got my fourth ever model, an Air China A350-900. This one came out in Gemini’s May 2018 set, which was very China heavy.
