Legacy Jets 1:400 Scale Models

Yep, pre-order of any brand new product is a little premature if you ask me. We have samples coming in on a couple new manufacturers and at that point we will decide if it’s something worth pursuing as a retailer. Folks preordering multiple new brands coming out in 2026 are taking a bit of a gamble, especially at the retail prices. It’s kinda like the movie hype, where it’s just beat to death, and then when the big premiere hits, it’s a disappointment and the air gets let out of the bubble.

The only one I trust at this juncture is the V1 767-200 since it’s on the proven Panda mold that is virtually flawless.

As much as I bash them these days, NG does “show don’t tell” really well. Clear pics and vids of new releases/moulds, with minimal text fluff. Very easy to see if something’s worth getting or not.

Credit where credit is due they do excel in this department.

I've been reading this thread with interest and I thought I'd wade in with a couple of nitpicks of my own:

Firstly the saying goes ' The proof of the pudding is in the eating' and I can only assume the other version is some dreadful Americanisation

Secondly in my experience retailers will sell any old rubbish if they think they can so are rarely very trustworthy sources of quality. It's almost as if you need an independent website of some kind that discusses in detail 400 scale models and brands keeping you all up to date with what is going on. I wonder if such a thing will ever exist -

Since I reviewed an HX 737 a few weeks back it was clear as day what you were going to be getting with these LegacyJets models. They are perfectly middle of the road releases. Any thought that they were ever going to be superior to the best versions in the scale, which are near perfect, was never especially likely when we've all seen that although HX can produce very nice models they rarely do so with a new mould first time of asking.

The brand communication was suspect from the outset. Didn't wish to opine or comment - not least because these are beyond my extended criteria - though a new ERJ is welcome, depending on 'who' is doing it - and hopefully it'll be a lesson for LJ to avoid using AI slop.

The Avelo looks only slightly better than what GJ could’ve done IMO. If LJ were to fix the cockpit printing I’d say it will look even better. Either way I like the concept of choice — but $60 is very off-putting of a price point.

Yikes, leaving behind a legacy of falling short to our expectations, one must wonder why instead of choosing to work with the collectors and listen, they have chosen to shutter themselves into their flaws.

Now I am curious to know if these models will even make it to retailers now, the AirTran A320 looked alright for what it was.
