Just a gripe from a retailer POV

Just a gripe as we had a customer essentially threaten to shop elsewhere if we didn't give them a discount.. Unfortunately we don't operate that way. We throw up enough weekend sales etc.. to account for any running discount that other online only retailers may give out on an everyday basis. I politely responded that we don't arbitrarily give out discounts or coupons just because. We are one of the few brick and mortar stores in the U.S., and with that comes with lots of overhead and expenses that the online only sellers don't have to deal with. Having said that we are also selling all of our new release at MAP to be able to compete with the massive amount of online retailers. So just that alone cuts way into any small profit margin that we make on releases. What we do make up for in lieu of is customer service. We ship essentially same day, unless it's over a weekend and the shop is closed on Monday. Any issues regarding a model that we may have missed upon final inspection are rectified right away, and let me preface that by saying issues that are obvious, not the factory imperfections or slightest little bit here or there.
We have a little physical retailer network chat privately and talk a lot about these same issues, and this very exact issue of online retailers giving ongoing discounts that take pricing below MAP and devaluing the product. You as the consumer want as big of a discount as possible but in reality when a retailer continuously breaks the rules and sells below that threshold, it devalues the product. there have been several ongoing offenders that are on the cusp of being cut off.
Folks absolutely have options on where to buy their models, but just food for thought when making those buying decisions. Are you getting from and authorized retailer to begin with?? Someone who gives great service? I will always pay a little more knowing I am getting that great service and from someone who will have my back if there really is something that needs attention.
I guess the moral of the story is don't threaten to stop buying from a retailer because they don't meet your discount demands. Honestly if you are the constant discount seeker, we prefer you to shop elsewhere if I'm being honest. We try our best, we really do. But we also have to put food on the table as well. We pride ourselves on selection, I don't think you'll find better, but I'm biased. Pride ourselves on being transparent, and the best is we pride ourselves on our customer service. We hope everyone has a great day. And this isn't meant to bash other retailers or talk bad about them. It's just a gripe that we are airing out.

I haven’t ordered from you in a while, but you do offer some great pricing, and it’s almost unbeatable. I honestly think you price perfectly. Lots of good stuff on the site and expect an order soon! I would get someone complaining about prices as high as what Northeast sells, and insane shipping prices. Combined with your free shipping and prices, there’s really no better place to buy in my opinion!

To be fair we don't have free shipping, that would further cut into the small margins with the retail store, but we feel our prices are right there with everyone else. Thanks for the love

Can’t imagine why anyone would want to switch retailers, you guys have some great stock for some great prices.
Plus, being the only physical retailer in the northwest is a big convenience. A majority of my collection now is from Squatchy’s, and I have nothing but positive things to say!

Any we appreciate you!!! We love all of our customers and having the retail store brings folks together when they do visit our neck of the woods. It's really a dying breed of shopping but just the interaction and visiting we can do with folks means so much. My dad who sits in the store most of the time gives him an outlet as he is 80 years old and loves talking war stories with folks. It's so easy for folks to be negative anymore it takes away from the positive aspect.

Plus, all my online orders from you arrive really quickly (Could just be the fact that I’m one state away, but the shipping is still incredibly fast)

Much better than Texan, who I’ve struggled with of late with an order taking almost a month and a half so far to get here, with no tracking number being provided yet. That’s why I like squatchy’s, punctuality and consistency.

We appreciate that, I guess I am from the old school, but like you said, there is something to be said about just walking into a store and being able to touch something and physically see it. I order online as well, but we also go out of our way to support small business physical stores. I just don't like threats of giving a discount or else I'll shop elsewhere.
 
Some time ago, I bought an Alitalia Cargo B747-200F with you (DW 1:400) and had great service. The shipment ended up being returned to you (really don't know why) but it was sent back again and it did reach the destination this time. So basically don't listen to this people who want to roast your business, you do have a great service and a fantastic selection of models!!!

Thanks Leo, they weren't really roasting, but more demand making that we owe them a discount, and if not they are not ordering again. Well in so many words I said said don't let the door hit you. We don't operate that way and hope nobody else would tolerate that either. With customers like that, well..... I appreciate the kind words
