HX Models - News & Discussion

the delivery from them cost over 30e for one model within Europe. I wanted to buy from them once, but they use only the most expensive shipping option and dont agree to use a cheaper (which is still high price) options. I dont really know who would buy from them expect who is in Switzerland

I'd bought some models from them few years ago - some rare hard to find ones. They only use Swiss post - and that was quite expensive - the advantage though shipping international was that it came to about 12CHF per model - not cheap, but still.
To my dismay, one of the models was a wrong one LOL. They did refund the amount though. Kudos to them.
Otherwise a great store to buy from, and their email communication is top notch.

They had a model no one else had that I would buy, but it is already expensive there + shipping is very expensive + import taxes. The model would end up 120e for me. They use only super express shipping option with signature receiving confirmation. More slow shipping option which Swiss post has (still with tracking) would save me 20e overall, but they did not want to use it for me. So I just found this model in other place in some time and paid almost twice less then I would pay if bought from them.
The shop might be good, but only if you have deep pockets

Right, which is why I only bought once from them over so many years. Their list prices, as you rightly mention, are way higher than other stores elsewhere. Really unaffordable if your own country's currency isn't doing well.

Great to see the Swissair Chocolate 747. Just placed my order. I just wished there was another registration. I already got HB-IGF from Tucano 20 years ago and JC Wings recently. I placed the order for the N registration - but it’s still the same plane. Wish we would see HB-IGC, HB-IGE or HB-IGG one day again.

Is that corogard on the elevators?!🤦‍♂️
I think they tried to replicate the bare metal elevators Swissair had on a range of aircaft including the DC-10 and the 747-300. This appears to have been a temporary thing such as the grey belly on the chocolate livery:

747's control surfaces were composite structures hence always painted.
What you see on Swissair's h.stabs is Boeing's usual grey for 747s. You know, it's this shade of grey that is 99% neglected in the world of scale modeling. The shade I've been ranting about a dozen times already.
Btw, it's the exact same shade you should find on N221GF's wings "as delivered". HB-IGF later was repainted in the lighter shade of grey as seen on the wing-to-body fairing.

The rest of the h.stabs were white btw.

On the DC-10 it was bare metal, on the 747 dark grey indeed. Swissair's 747s went through several repaints, sometimes in a rather short time. The h-stabs later went all white. There is a nice picture of HB-IGD on Facebook that shows the darker grey on the elevators as opposed to the lighter one on the WBFs and on the lower fuselage.
However, a wrong shade of grey wouldn't be a deal killer for me.

Absolutely stunning! Miles better than the latest JC Wings version 🥰 🥰 🥰 hope they also release the MD-11!!!
I’d really like the 1990s version of the MD11, because the 1980s version (chocolate) already exists with JC Wings and Phoenix, and to stand out from the 743.
On the other hand, let’s hope that the 743 is not exclusive, because otherwise it will be more complicated to get it...
It’s already not easy to see all the models we want to release, so exclusives are still an additional obstacle for obtaining them when they are finally produced !

Yes the delivery is a bit mental. They want CHF54 to send the model to Australia, so about $100 Australian for postage! That’s a no for me sadly.

Checked out the Swiss Model Shop and it’s all in Swiss. No English option. Couldn’t see preorders anywhere. Hope this model is not just confined to this shop only.

These new products are so great (Landor 747s and Swiss 747-300s). So sad that we can't just buy one on YY/HX's Taobao...
I mean, even if they sold it with the price as high as NG or even Patriot there will definitely be buyers.
But now, if like me in China want to have one, we might have to let the model going all the way around, from their factory at Guangdong, to go abroad, then being brought back by purchasing agent, with shipping fares that might way more expensive than model itself. That's quite a nonsense...

Edit: I lived in Nanning, only 3 hours drive from Guangzhou. That's one of the reasons I like to buy models from YY/HX, since once I purchased, the model could be send to my home by express as soon as tomorrow. That just makes such circuitous even more annoying.

In China... Why not break into the factory? If inclined, could you pick me one of each? 😂They are great subjects and on excellent moulds. Best start padding that wallet. I have... and trust me we pay incredibly high import taxes here Brazil.
