German Charter Airlines

There have been 706 German releases in 400 scale, but of those 482 have been Lufthansa (or one of its subsidiaries) and 76 Condor. That means the rich German airline scene isn't as well represented as it might be. In my collection the non-Condor German Charter airlines have their own half shelf in a Kallax Unit. Their number has just been bolstered by my 50th NG Models L-1011 Tristar - the series 500 D-AERV made by NG all the way back in 2020. The model wears a short term livery adopted after acquisition from United where she'd been N511PA (obviously a former Pan Am frame). Oddly NG never made a standard colours LTU series 500. I picked up most NG Tristars at the point of release but this one being a little obscure I ignored at the time. Nowadays the lack of NG L-1011s leaves me looking for the odd one I didn't buy. This one was an eBay purchase for £25.

Beautiful birds!!! Germany had (still have? I'm not so sure) such a beautiful history of charter operations and great liveries.
Some models which are still missing in 1:400 and I'd love to see:

Of course Air Berlin has been, with Condor, the guest star of all German charter/leisure airlines, with some good years also for Aero-Lloyd, a common view in all Spanish Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean holiday islands. But Germany was also important as nation were to base some subsidiaries:

A "hybrid" livery with United's cheatline just being painted over before getting the full LTU livery treatment.

Too bad I missed NG's full colors LTU TriStar release. Looks great.

Not completely correct. Herpa released 560382 Germania B737-700 D-AGEU "Siemens" and 560627 Germania B737-700 D-AGEN "TUI Schone Ferien"

And, now, I believe you could add German Airways to this list. They fly E190’s out of AMS on behalf of KLM/KLM Cityhopper. I flew with them in March 2025, AMS-FRA.

Indeed. Let's put it this way then: there has never been a model in Germania livery in 400 scale.

In an odd coincidence one of the above German charter airlines is featured in next month's Aeroclassics!

Condor flew 8 A300B4s at various times but never had more than 2 at a time. They leased aircraft for just the busy summer seasons so 4 of the 8 were from their parent Lufthansa (1 in 1979, 2 in 1983 and 1 in 1987), 2 from TAA (both in 1984) and 2 from Hapag LLoyd (in 1985 and 1986-87). D-AIBD was delivered to Lufthansa in 1979 and joined Condor for 7 months in 1983. She was sold to Orion as G-BMZK in 1987, then went to Iberia in 1989 as EC-EON with whom she ended her career.



The addition of D-AIBD today gives me an opportunity to show off the other half of my German charter airline shelf, which is all Condor Flugdienst, and all Aeroclassics, aside from the NG 757.

Seems not many models were released in their 1990s scheme... actually, I can't remember any model in that scheme!
DC-10-30, B767-300ER, B757-200, B737-300... these were regular sights in so many leisure destinations!

Yeah, there is a JC 757-200 in their future releases announced last year but otherwise the eurowhite/grey belly is largely missing

As a Germany based collector I must say that I'm very pleased to see your Condor fleet.

For me the 60/70s livery with the belly stripe is the most beautiful. I'm still missing a few.
