Gemini Jets August 2025 Releases

Certain models sell well in diaspora communities. Pakistani and Indian models tend to sell particularly well in the UK, where there is a large diaspora. In the case of this Cubana ATR, it most likely is aimed for Latin American collectors and the Cubana diaspora in America. However calling this an American release is an odd choice, a better way to have said this was that the Cubana ATR release still falls within Gemini's North American focus, making the set less diverse than what some make it out to be.
That's fine I'll take that statement, as I didn't call it an American release straight out as I recall and qualified it in the video. It just fell foul of the usual suspects who want to make an argument and unsubstantiated statements.
My personal thoughts on the set are that it feels more diverse than previous Gemini release sets, however it still isn't as diverse as other sets such as JC or Phoenix.

Agreed. Again pretty much what I said.

Well said. It is still diversity though. Better the Cubana ATR then lets say, another Delta or United model? Would the addition of a Canadian model detract from "diversity" because it is North American?

That is only a recent event due to tariffs. How many times does this need to be said? Until recently NG made a lot more diverse sets and then the Trump administration decided to impose massive levies on China, which have had the knock on effect of not only seriously damaging production of US models but also damaging the economies of the rest of the world too! GJ has to make US models because if it doesn't it is curtains for them.

5 of this set of 9 models is American and frankly the Cubana is basically an American release too. It is clearly aimed at the US market and not global collectors - certainly not Cuban ones.

So do your maths properly. There is about 30% of this set that isn't for the home US market and one of those is a corporate Emirates release.

Claim unsubstantiated.

Mate you have had a real problem with me recently ever since that NG thread. 5 of the set are American and the Cubana is aimed at the American market that is 100% true. I'm getting very tired of you being a jerk on these threads to be honest. You are arguing for the sake of it. Please stop.

Why does every new release from each factory has to become a political or migration outcome?? Can’t we just talk about the models instead of convincing one and another of their right or wrong? Let the clowns talk about politics, let us talk about models and why you want that certain model! Every new release has good and less good models for someone!! Deal with it and get exited for the next release to be announced! Thats what makes collecting fun!

Can't model planes and planes just be... themselves instead of some argument over its history and origin...

I'm not saying I'd do a better moderator or you're bad at it, but those sentences highlighted are pretty disturbing imo. Sometimes we just have to let their opinions be

Agreed. And to add to that, how about practicing what one preaches and not being a jerk either (YesterAirlines). From my perspective, it was he who picked a fight with JJ Skippy, all simply because JJ said he didn't see the Cuban ATR as an American model (and at face value, it really is not). And then for him to pin the blame on the one he is trying to gaslight (in a now deleted post), now that is low..

YesterAirlines, I also don't think ghqv2988 was being a jerk. He was simply flipping your logic around.

Good evening. No more heated yapping about that damn Cubana ATR model or i'll lock the thread. Jeez... it's quite amusing to see how you guys can argue about such an insignificant subject. Really tiring to read some of these replies. Discussions are welcome but first, let's learn how to disagree without attacking others. That's quite basic actually. In the end, you guys are insulting each other because of model planes 🤣 I'm also a model collector just like everyone else, but I can't help to think how pathetic this is

By the way, i'm having a PM conversation with the two other mods here about some changes in our moderation approaches.
This is a friendly forum (specially when compared to DAC) but things have turned quite nasty in the last few days and we need to step up to keep things under control. That also means we have to review some of our actions towards other members.

Anyways, I ask you all to refrain from posting attacking or heated replies. Let's keep the forum friendly. Cheers

I don't think any of this needs to be so deep and I agree with you. Yes, this is a North America focused release choice as it will not being selling in mainland Cuba but more so the Latin American collectorate whether that be the Caribbean, North America or Central America.

Agreed. In the video I never called it an American release I just said 'it was aimed at the American market not the Cuban market' and that the Cubana was 'arguably a sixth American release' - note the word arguably - it matters. None of that is controversial and meets exactly with what you and @abdulmohiuddin said, but I was hauled over the coals for it even though I could back it up with facts. It was a throwaway comment in a 20 minute video, but agendas...

Anyway as Leo requested we should not be discussing this aspect anymore because some people want to fight about it so as requested please drop it.

I love stats and view myself as a stats nerd in sports, so here are some fun stats I put together for each release:
  • GJAAL2297 American A321 US Airways Heritage completes the set of the new heritages. This plane has been painted since I want to say 2017? I saw it first in 2018.
  • GJIBB2281 Binter Canarias Embraer E195 E2 marks the FIRST appearance of this airline in 1:400 scale. Prior to this, eight models have been made of Binter Canarias in these scales: 1 1:100, 4 1:200s, 1 1:500, and 2 1:600s.
  • GJCUB2222 Cubana ATR-72-200 is Gemini’s first ATR-72 for Cubana and their third propeller aircraft, following an Antonov 26 and ATR-42. This will be their sixth total Cubana release.
  • GJUAE2345 Emirates A380 Dubai Expo is their third release of this livery, each one with a different reg. This one has a slightly different design in the notepad.
  • GJHAL2339 Hawaiian B787-9 Dreamliner is their second release of this type. This release does not contain a Flaps Down like the first release.
  • GJJAL1719 Japan Airlines MD-90 is their first release of JAL in TWENTY-THREE years! Their last release, a DC-8, was made in 2002 as a SkyJets400 exclusive.
  • GJUAL2346 United A321neo is their second release of the type, their first coming out in December 2023.
  • GJUAL2341 United Express CRJ-550 is their second release as well, the first coming out in November 2019.

I like this. more of this for future releases if you can get around to it. I love stuff like this, hence why I include aircraft histories in my collection thread.

US Airways retro was delivered in January 2014 the standard US colors and quickly changed only a few months after delivery with the AA titles where it’s been to this day! The other 321 retros didn’t come till 2023 when they were switched out from the 319s. All those other retro 321s were delivered in the newer AA scheme originally I believe, even as originally US Airways deliveries.
