Columbus Aviation's 1:400 Collection

Hello there, folks! I've seen plenty of people doing collection threads, so I thought I might as well jump on the train.

I began looking into scale models around Thanksgiving 2024, starting by looking into 1:200 models which were on Black Friday sales. Once those sales ended, I lost interest, as I decided that I would not be able to afford the scale. Unfortunately for my bank account, just a little while later, in January of 2025, I started to look at 1:400 models instead. On some random day that won't pretend to remember, I bit the bullet, and ordered my first model. Here I am now, sitting with a collection of 28 models on my shelf behind me.

Just like my typical luck, my first model arrived with a detached horizontal stabilizer, but that didn't scare me away one bit.

Let's have a look at my collection in order!

MODEL 1 - 1/10/2025
1762056487006.jpeg
Republic Airways (dba American Eagle)
Embraer ERJ-175
N402YX

This was a model I had initially looked at in 1/200 scale. I have always greatly enjoyed regional airlines' house liveries, especially YX's. I don't know exactly what it is, but I really appreciate Republic Airways' clean branding and this livery in general. Upon seeing how cheap I could get this one for, it was a no-brainer as my first model. The horizontal stabilizer that is visible in this image is the broken one. I currently just have it slotted back into position until I can glue it. Yes, It's taken me 11 months and counting to find time to glue it 😂 I have also spotted this exact aircraft at my home airport of CMH. I believe I've seen all of YX's house tails, 401, 402, and 403YX.

MODEL 2 - 1/21/2025
1762056905961.jpeg
Envoy Air (dba American Eagle)
Embraer ERJ-170
N760MQ

When I picked up this model, I was at the American Airlines CR Smith Museum in Dallas, TX. I nabbed this at the gift shop, as it was one of the most fitting models for my collection. In retrospect, I probably should have picked up a mainline narrowbody American aircraft, as I still don't have any, but I do not regret this purchase at all. I wanted to pick up more regional aircraft at this time, as I had learned of the rarity of certain aircraft. (at the time, basically any E175 from one of the big three carriers) I have also spotted this aircraft at ORD while taxiing to my gate!

MODEL 3 - 1/29/2025
1762057409961.jpeg
Alaska Airlines (Honoring Those Who Serve)
Boeing 737-800 w/ Split Scimitars
N570AS

At this point, I had very quickly learned that I was 100% into this. This was my first mainline aircraft, which I was extremely excited to pick up. Around this time, I began to plan a model airport that I have still not started, which will be a minor operating base of Alaska Airlines. This was my first big step towards this, however, I still need more standard livery ASA aircraft.

MODEL 4 - 2/6/2025
1762057679698.jpeg
Southwest Airlines (New Mexico One)
Boeing 737-800 w/ Split Scimitars
N8655D

Yes, back-to-back 737-800s! However, if I could go back, I would have begun collecting standard livery aircraft much sooner. I definitely got a little too wild with it in the early days of my collection. Nothing against special paint schemes, but I 100% went overboard. Either way, I got this aircraft for a really good deal on eBay. I really, REALLY like this scheme. This was also my first model from NG. I was very pleasantly surprised by its quality.

MODEL 5 - 2/19/2025
1762057972485.jpeg
Horizon Air (dba Alaska Horizon) (GO COUGS)
Embraer ERJ-175
N661QX

This was another aircraft I have personally spotted! I saw this parked a few gates over from the aircraft I was boarding in Seattle to take me up to YVR in 2024. Funnily enough, the aircraft that I was boarding is also in my collection now! Besides that, I really wanted to pick up one of the E175s, and chose this scheme as it looked really nice. However, if I could've gotten a standard livery 175 for a similar price, I would've picked it instead. Alas, those are quite expensive. I'm hoping for a rerelease of those in the near-future.

MODEL 6 - 3/7/2025
1762058219395.jpeg
Delta Air Lines
Bombardier CS300 (the correct name)
N305DU

This was my first mainline aircraft for any of the Big 3 Carriers in the United States, and my first "Airbus." I was really excited for this one especially, and I can't exactly remember why. But, this is overall a very solid model. However, I don't have much else to say about it. Delta should put a special livery on the A220 IRL

MODEL 7 - 4/1/2025
1762058406373.jpeg
Skybus Airlines
Airbus A319
N551SX

Finally, a true Airbus in my fleet! Being from the home of the short-lived Skybus, I thought this would be a really interesting and fun model to pick up. That, and the fact that it was 21 dollars, made this a near no-brainer. I really like this livery, and thought it would look really cool. My initial plans of use for this model were retro updates for my upcoming airports, but with the slow expansion of my retro fleets, it makes more sense for me to just use them as if Skybus never ceased.

MODEL 8 - 7/29/2025
1762058693538.jpeg
Swoop
Boeing 737-800 w/ Split Scimitars
C-FLSF

After an extremely chaotic and stressful summer in which I had no time to purchase any models, mainly due to moving, I had one of my friends surprise me. I sent him a list of models, and made him pick a random one. What came from that, was this sleek bird. Luckily, WestJet still hasn't repainted some of Swoop's aircraft, so this is still a great aircraft to use in updates!

This model was a great release, especially quality wise as most i’ve seen online look near perfect. One of the better Gemini E175 releases to date imo. Similarly with the American Eagle right below this for the most part, however mine features the infamous engine tilt a bit.

I really hope the use this mold more. Hoping they’ll do a Delta E175S with the non enhanced winglets. I would buy probably 3.

Based on how the last few E175 releases went…I’ll hold my hopes. I’d rather not get it released at all than get something that arrives like a 4yr old put it together in the factory. It only frustrates me so much because they HAD good quality on them just a year or two ago…

I get it. I’m just so desperate for either a release of the Delta E175S or to pick up the 2013 E170. I have the E170 in 1:200 and it’s an amazing model. The ‘13/14 E170’s (American, Delta, United) are all some models I’ve always wanted.

My engines are actually... not even aligned with each other on this model, but it is still a really great model. One is further back than the other

MODEL 9 - 9/3/2025
1762101920024.jpeg
GoJet Airlines (dba United Express)
Bombardier CRJ-550
N506GJ

After finally settling into my new home completely, the August 2025 preorders came out, and I immediately snagged one of these. United Express was so rare at the time, that it was stupid if I DIDN'T pick one up. This was my first time pre-ordering a model, and it definitely paid off! I really love this model, I just think it looks so clean. Definitely glad to have this one.

MODEL 10 - 9/4/2025
1762102339735.jpeg1762102327261.jpeg
Horizon Air (dba Alaska Horizon) (GO DAWGS)
Embraer ERJ-175
N662QX

Yes, it's here! I believe I mentioned this in one of my previous posts, and here it is! The aircraft I've been on! I got this model as I needed more Alaska E175s, and still couldn't find a cheap one in the standard livery. I'm STILL wanting a rerelease of that, I'm getting tired of waiting. I really like this model, the colors on it are VERY vibrant and stick out really nicely in my collection.

MODEL 11 - 9/15/2025
1762102577627.jpeg
Allegiant Air
Airbus A320
N252NV

This was my first A320 and something I greatly needed to introduce into my collection, as my low-cost collection is... about as low as the cost 😂
Luckily, I got this for a good deal. Now, I'm looking for a MAX 8 and A319 to complete the set! This was a big one for random model airports, as Allegiant serves a lot of those smaller, more out-there airports.
