Charter 1:400 collection.

oh wow, thats quite fast. I have an emirates 777-200lr frmo gemini jets that as zinc rot :(
i got it on my birthday since ive flown on one before and i didnt know it was rotted until i got home and the store didnt allow returns :(((((
it has been doing well other than when i had to glue a bit of the wing together, i hope it doesnt deteriorate as quick as your model did.
quite sad so many nice models dissolve like this
If you look well the model started to bend, completely ruined. In fact i am really sad and disappointed for this US Airways B767-200 1:400 and for the iconic masterpiece, Big Bird 1:500 B747-400D ANA "Marine Whale": wings completely transformed in dust!

I was surprised to see that on a Gemini model. Usually impurities on the alloy causes the dissolution, along with dust and humidity. This was a usual problem in Big Bird models, sharing the poor quality of their alloy despite the high price of the various models. Collecting everything and from all the existing manufacturers, i can say that in recent years i never had this problem with the models.

Another problem is the yellow color of white plastic parts, usually tail fin and engines. And this is strange because if the models are stored far from sunlight they should be safe. I noticed this color transformation especially in Herpa models, 1:500 and 1:400. The model remains intact, but what should be white becomes yellow.

Yellowing has always been a fear of mine... Thats why I keep all of my models out of sunlight in UV protected cases.. They're not cheap but I know my models will last.

Yes, but not only sunlight. I have at least two models whose engines and tail fin became yellow, both Herpa and both plastic made parts (among them the beautiful Nordic Leisure MD-90). No direct sunlight, never, so i think that also touching them the "natural" oil and grass on the fingers skin can cause a yellowing of the white parts. No idea of other reasons.

I have not had this happen with any of mine before thankfully.

Now a very sad post; US Airways B767-200 by GeminiJets, one of my most loved models, victim of zinc rot pest. This model is almost completely recovered using super glue, but it is literally pulverizing.
I spotted this US Airways B767-200 landing at Rome FCO runway 16R about 15 years ago: i was amazed by her beauty!

Very sad, especially considering it’s the only one we have in the scale. Mine is starting to deteriorate as well. Hopefully I can get it outside to take a few good photos of it before it’s really gone like yours is becoming.

How long did it take for this model to deteriorate into this condition once you noticed the zinc rot?
Mine has been a slower process? i’m starting to get bits of cracking and chipping in places but it’s not too too noticeable yet….at least the last time it was taken out of the box a couple months ago. I took photos for my collection thread back some weeks ago so maybe i’ll bring mine out again and do some comparison shots to see where it’s at.

Oh no, that's really sad.
If only NG (or even Panda) could release new US Airways B762s... but I guess that might not happen anytime soon.

begging, pleading, i’ll do anything for one of both liveries! Panda, NG, hell even a Gemini release i’d just be happy to get another one in the modern era!!

This is nightmare fuel…

I must be honest: 5.000 models in 1:400 scale but very few B747-400. One of them Is Delta Air Lines, in my opinion the most elegant Queen of the past!
Delta is not only and airlines, is and icon and in fact my Delta fleet 1:400 scale consists in about 27 models, all latest livery, the most beautiful one. Yes, Delta widget livery is a piece of art, but i allow me to share this kind of "sweet" for my 1:500 scale where i collected about 70 Delta models of all times and all liveries.

Great photos of this one! The sunlight is hitting it really well. Who’s this one from?

I have no idea why but for some reason I don't like how the Delta sign is just place on the 747, it feels empty

Love the Delta livery on the 747, although Northwest was better :P decent model by Gemini, despite some flaws... the engines, for example
