British Airways 40th Anniversary of its first Boeing 757-200 Revenue Flight?

February next year 2023 will see the 40th anniversary of the first British Airways Boeing 757-200 revenue flight, if I recall G-BIKB, in its Negus scheme was the first aircraft. Given that a number of the early 1:400 BA 752 models have already been made, what BA 752 model would you like to commemorate this milestone?

Just out of interest?

More Utopia/World Tails please

Given the complexity of the tail design, what would be your top five 752 Utopia models?

I would really like to see the two Australian tails, Wunala and Nalanji Dreaming, on the 757. The registrations I believe were G-BIKF and G-BMRH

As far as I can tell, they haven't yet been made in 1:400, so I would love to see NG make them on their excellent 757 mould.

2023 sees the 40th anniversary of all 757 revenue flights, not only British Airways, who as joint launch customer with Eastern, pressed the brand new type into service in January and February 1983. Both the first two airline operators were done by NG several years ago, but another suggestion could be a Monarch 757, who also began ops in 1983, as the first charter airline operators of the 757. Whilst G-MONB with original livery has been released already, it was with the post 1987 modern version of the Rolls Royce RB-211-535-E4 engines, therefore a 1983 era 535-C engine type would make for a nice 40th anniversary release.

As far as the Utopia tails go though, I'll take whatever they can give us.

Just a quick, unrelated question. What was the black ring around the nose-cones of some of the BA 757s? Some of them seem to have the blue section on the bottom but others don't. I would guess this was because of spare parts being used but from pictures, it looks to be too widespread to be caused by mismatching spares.

(These are the three variations; Black ring with the blue, black ring without the blue, and no back ring with the blue.)

You guys are the BA experts so that's why I am asking you, because if anyone knows, it will be you guys. Thanks :)

BA trialled the black rings as a method of improving microwave absorption to improve radar performance. Apparently the black paint absorbed better. Ultimately though I think the improvements were fairly negligible.

Thanks for letting me know... I guess you learn something every day!

Let's get the 40th party started. Here's the very first BA 757, G-BIKB arriving at GLA when I was 12, the BBC News crew filming the arrival became colleagues of mine at the BBC years later. Also a magazine article from 41 years ago (1981) anticipating the arrival of the new jet. And an idea for NG. The prototype 'first flight' 757 with test pilot names and correct Rolls Royce RB-211 535C engines. Their 2018 release has P&W engines, which weren't swapped over until much later after the flight debut.

This would be a great model to see made, especially to commemorate such an important occasion.
