What do you all recommend is the best way to go about selling models i.e. ebay, Facebook groups etc.
I agree selling at fairs is best, but it takes a lot of effort and isn't a great way to shift everything at once. Facebook is very hit and miss and you're open to all kinds of problems unless there is some trust between you and the buyer. eBay is more reliable, but obviously has costs associated with it and you're still somewhat open to the annoyances of the buyer. If you're careful with who you're dealing with, Facebook is in my opinion the best. Although many people will ask questions and pictures without replying afterwards. Selling at fairs has also been quite successful for me and is the most easiest way if there is one nearby.
What percentage does Ebay take per sale?I agree selling at fairs is best, but it takes a lot of effort and isn't a great way to shift everything at once. Having said that I'm selling a few models at the moment myself and ultimately decided eBay was the least hassle option.
It appears too good to be true but in the UK eBay has seemingly scrapped private seller's fees including the final value fee:What percentage does Ebay take per sale?

eBay selling fees are scrapped to boost to reselling
The company moves to keep pace with rivals in the marketplace, saying the shift should help inspire a leap in the number of people looking to make a few quid by flogging stuff they no longer want.news.sky.com
I guess I'll see soon! A couple of my sales just sold.
My issue with eBay is how to price the models. There is rarely a lot of bidders in my experience except when I'm bidding on an item![]()
I've been pricing my model sales in the £20-30 range mostly as starting prices.
Unfortunately, I have not heard of any fairs happening in my area that I have been made aware of as I agree that would be the best option but all that I know of require me to travel.
Are Chicago, Cleveland, and Toronto too far from you? The Chicago show is this weekend. Cleveland is on August 23rd. Here's the list of shows.
You can also try the private party sales section of the forums. Not only this one, but I'd post on DAC and Wings900 too.
Otherwise, I think eBay is the best place to do it.
What are you trying to sell and what' your goal (get rich, fee up space, recover the cost)?

Chicago and Cleveland are close as I'm in the Detroit Metro area.. Not sure if they have any in Detroit.
They don't. You could go to the Chicago show this Saturday and take your models in a bag. Some sellers might buy from you.
I have a Panda 767-400 Delta (Standard Scheme) that I know would sell quickly.
Yes, that one is sought after. I think that one is a good candidate for an eBay auction.
Ebay assesses a 13-14% on items sold via their platform. You'll have to mark up the price of models considerably to earn a marginable profit or break even. You'll also have to pay federal taxes when the time comes. IMO not worth it unless you're really trying to get rid of a model or it's rarity allows for a significant markup. The nice thing about Ebay though is their consumer protection for buyers. What do you all recommend is the best way to go about selling models i.e. ebay, Facebook groups etc.
$55-70 plus shipping seems like a fair price right now on Ebay.I also have a Gemini Jets AA E-190 that is probably sought after..
