Boeing announces that delivery of first B777X will be postponed to 2027.
Lufthansa is the lauch customer and for this delay the replacement of 16 A340-300s and 8 B747-400s will not take place before 2027. During 2026 only the 6 remaining A340-600s will be phased out.
Even Lufthansa controlled ITA Airways has some problems with airplanes replacement: CEO Eberhart said that the (very old) A330-200 fleet will be phased out in 2026 because of the delay in delivery of the 5-6 A330-900neo, still grounded without engines.

I don't know. Boeing accepted the sad fact that they haven't a competitor in the segment 220-250 seats (A321neo/LR/XLR), they can't accept not to have a good replacement of the B777-300ER and a competitor of the A350-900/A330-900neo. Even if the B787-9/10 already compete in the up to 350 seats while the B777X Is a new step, entering in the 390/400 (B777-8) and 430 (B777-9) market, where just the A350-1000 already exists.
