Aeroclassics April 2025 Releases

Ordered everything except the China A300. Most ACs I’ve purchased in a long time. Pleasantly surprised by the low prices as well…expected at least a 10%+.
Yes it is a fabulous set
And especially good to get those re-releases if one's missed them earlier or been unable to get them from the used market

Do they think this is an interesting detail? I've never seen these real planes with these black rims

So, look at these below for comparison in this same set -
- only Air Jamaica has silver rims - when you zoom in it's clearly seen.
- the rest do not! Dunno what's up with the factory!

My hunch is - the rest have standard natural metal, and thus these are erroneous / cheaper bulk production engines being slapped on.
The Air Jamaica had to be customised anyways - and so 'okay let's do the silver too for a sharp white outline as well as not too contrast-ey if the rims were black' (I'm assuming the rims are printed / painted on / plated last) .

Maybe @Phantom
could explain better how these things are done, and also if the black rims are just lazy cost cutting measures

I personally picked up the AA a300 out of this release, it will be my second aeroclassics a300 with my other one being the continental globe from 2007 I believe. I’ve always gotten lucky with my aeroclassics so maybe this one will turn out fine. If I do get the wavy wings it shouldn’t bother me too much personally, and I’m just excited to finally add an American a300 in my collection!

I wonder what's up with AC and these black rims on engines. They're doing it all the time now. 727, A300, DC-10.

My prediction is that it was requested by ownership that the 'engine fans' be painted black, since many of them have been silver/gray. That request was probably lost in translation and interpreted as, paint the 'engine cowlings black.' Just a guess without any inside info. Seems like a logical explanation.

Doesn't explain why they're silver on only the Air Jamaica

I'm wondering why all of the 727s from this release have black rims to the engines and way to dark exhaust on no. 1 & 3?
The new no.2 exhaust looks wrong to me as well - comparing to the real thing- and the nose looks like the beak of the Nok Air bird...very disappointing. :(

At first sight I thought about getting all 727s and the AA A300, but now I'm probably not buying any of them.
Looks like I got lucky with the Air Jamaica , the one I had my eyes on most. That’s the only 727 here that doesn’t appear to have the black rims on the engines . For whatever reason it seems every engine painted in silver has the black ring but with Air Jamaicas engines being painted white it doesn’t have that black circle .

Hopefully it's consistent across the entire batch
Such an iconic scheme - have my eyes on it as well

Ouch. Just noticed the Transbrasil pair have colored engine pylons! Unfortunate.

I'd hoped to pick them up after a couple of months, if they're around still, considering no other company will make it - to go with my Panda 734. Bummer.

The rims should be printed on last, but I can only guess that the factory was ordered to set the intake rims in contrast to the rest by printing them a darker shade - which isn't unrealistic. However AC often enough showed a lack of standardisation and color management so that a white nacelle might get silver while a silver nacelle gets this burnt iron shade (same as exhaust?) instead of printing all in a uniform slightly darker than silver shade. This might add another color to what on an AC model already looks like a very cost trimmed process.
Generally I see that AC often omits one step and leaves the intake/fan unpainted which looks rather unfortunate.
I wonder what the production costs for such AC model are in contrast to the detailed stuff of some competitors.

That said, might one of those competitors please finally consider doing a 727?

Lovely set of releases... although the quality of these models will probably be very questionable. Transbrasil 767s are great, since the old JC Wings versions are hard to find. I already have the trio of Transbrasil 767s as custom models and won't be replacing them.
You seem to be a fan of custom models. I do not like them at all. I understand that some AC models look cheap and badly done, but at least the paint is better than decaling a model now with very shady decal that will go yellow in a decade.

It depends on the quality of the custom and the custom-maker! If you use good quality decals, inks, a good varnish, use an airbrush for the painting process, customs can be as good as some brand new models. And they won't go yellow!

The thing is: there are several newbies selling some custom models with a very dodgy quality... It's not unusual to see some rough paint, poorly placed decals and other flaws.

I believe the YU version is the grey top one.
I'm fairly sure it's going to be polished, bare metal. West Coast Diecast has it listed as "Chrome Livery" and if you look closely at the artwork, you can see the composite(?) material around the cockpit

(It seems to be an updated artwork for the Yu ModeL AA A300)

I'd have been surprised if not. Those pylons are part of the wing and so consequently have the same color if not detailed in an extra production step. The times when AC cared for such detail are long past. As long as it sells...
Right.
As you mentioned in your earlier note - skipping steps means reduced production costs - so yeah.

To be honest, the original 767 by JC were badly done. I owned all 3 of them and they were very simple models.

I have saw a few shitty custom models out there. Specially on 1:400.
