It was 40 years ago today. The first ever BA Boeing 757 touching down at GLA from LHR on a late morning Shuttle proving flight. G-BIKB the first in fleet of joint launch operator, British Airways who along with Eastern of the US, began the world's first 757 operations in January and February respectively.
This photo taken by then Loganair pilot Peter Chick from the rear of the Loganair offices, now demolished, and given to me, many years later, whilst he was a 767 captain with Britannia. Also in the picture, a BBC Scotland news crew, filming the arrival and later on board too, for that day's Reporting Scotland regional news programme. I'd later work with the camera operator John MacNeill at the BBC when I joined as a camera operator myself in 2000.
On that day in '83 I was in first year in high school in nearby Paisley, and bunked off to go for a look at the amazing new tech Trident replacer. On certain cold winter mornings, you can still see a 757 grace the 'drome, even now. 40 years, eh...
