1:600 Model Collection (plane by plane)

Hello,
As I previously mentioned I have a rather big collection of 1:600 scale Schabak planes,
so I will start posting them one by one with details and story of the real plane if it's aviable.

So the first post will be this Air Tanzania Boeing 767-200 (ET-AIZ),
this plane was leased from Ethiopian Airlines from May 1991 to February 1992, in 1996 this plane crashed during the famous hijacking of Ethiopian Airlines flight 961.

I have thought for some time that these 600 scale models are super cool! They were small, affordable, and really cute planes! I would love to see a brand making them again.

I think that there is no need for a brand making 1:600 because you can find loads of cheap retro models for sale on ebay or other sites. For me the beauty of this models is that they are old planes and airlines.

Flying Tigers Boeing 747-200F delivered new in 1979, when the airline failed the plane got bought from Federal Express from 1989 to 1995, then sold to Southern Air Transport witch failed in 1998, the plane got taken by Polar Air Cargo on February of the same year. In May 1998 Kalitta Air got the plane and served until 2004.
American Airlines Boeing 747-100 (no rgistration), American Airlines operated 11 passenger Boeing 747-100s from 1970 to 1985 +/-

Nice! I love the Aloha scheme on the 734, looks great! Interesting that this was the airframe that was in the Garuda 2007 crash, was this model made before or after the incident?

I guess it was made before the crash as in 2007 schabak didn't existed anymore.... One think I noted with all my 1:600 models is that the biggest part of them crashed....

Good point. I guess I need to do my homework on 1:600! 😅 That is interesting that the bigger part of them crashed, maybe those particular aircraft were chosen on purpose or just by coincidence...

1:600 scale is quite fascinating! I have a Delta Tristar that I picked up at a gift shop near Boston a few years ago made by Schabak. I never knew that existed until I got it and later did some research.

I know for their Viasa DC-10s they used reg. YV-135C, which was Viasa's only DC-10 involved in a crash.

My latest addition to the fleet, I found it at a car expo... strange enough.

Anyway, this is a Alitalia Cargo Boeing 747-200, i believe its the first edition of the model by schabak, using the first or the second mould of the 747-200. This model could date from 1980 to 1990. Sadly the model has the big wheels whitc look pretty ugly, but since its such a great plane i couldn't say no to buying it... the price was still pretty high and thats why i didn't get his brother aswell (another alitalia b742) and the 5 other schabak planes the seller had.
