Hello to you all, I have just joined as I wanted to pick peoples brains on things as my son and I build his diorama.

Now the question I have is, we want to add lighting to his diorama for runway/taxiway/apron and building lights, I am quite competent at wiring etc but what I would like to know is about fibre optics, I know how to get the light to transmit down the optics etc but I would like to know what size diameter the optics should be? I’ve researched it and there are lots of conflicting answers, some say 0.5mm some say bigger size up to several MM’s wide, what have people used on here for this?

Obviously drill size maybe an issue as I don’t want to hand drill the holes and I don’t want to keep breaking small drill bits.

The other thing is, should they be straight holes IE 90 degrees or should they be 45 degree holes?

Of course they would be trimmed level with the board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert in dioramas with lights. All my dioramas, including the current I have, don't have lights :(
