1/400 RDU- Raleigh-Durham International Airport Terminal 2

Its finally arrived! Big thank you to @aroeske for this build. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a 3-D printed airport. It’s sturdy, detailed and fits together amazing. Thanks again Andy for making something I’ve wanted to do for a long time a reality.

But this is just the beginning as I still need to paint the terminal and finish the ramp. Expect many more updates.

That is going to be awesome. Keep us posted with the progress. @aroeske also did my IND retro terminal. I still have all of the painting to do, and my son made some decals for the windows and doors that I was able to print. I've got a lot of work ahead of me on that as well.

The initial detailing of the ramp is done, which was a very tedious thing to do by hand. A lot of trial and error. I also had the thought to modify the Gemini terminal road that came with their terminal to fit this one. It’s actually very close to the look of the one used at RDU. I just need to make a few cuts to have it sit flush with the terminal.

Your RDU setup looks great! It is interesting that I am also having Andy build me an RDU airport using terminal 2. Mine will be slightly different as it will use the full length Terminal C & D and will feature interior lighting. Do you mind if I borrow the idea of using the Gemini Jets landslide road for the RDU landslide?

Go for it. I have the option to go longer as I am not gluing or connecting the end pieces to the rest. Since this is my first time with using the 3D printed terminal, I wanted to test it out first. Plus I didn't have the 6-7ft needed to hold the entire thing. I know I can get the remaining pieces if needed, which will happen eventually.

I had tried different options before I went the 3-D route and I wish I had sooner. @aroeske did this one for me and it turned out great. This one looks great and matches RDU. In terms of cost, it really depends on the size, color and some other things. But its defiantly worth the money.

Land side is done as well as part of the roof. The plan I had for using the existing GJ roadway from that terminal for this one didn’t work as I had hoped it would. Hopefully @aroeske can print one that will work. Once that’s done, I can begin work on gate parking.
