Maybe they think they will have better luck catering to children. There might not be enough of us for the sheer amount of models those guys put out.

Maybe they are trying to expand the business also in other ways, or will be a gadget…

If they have tried to save the money this can be a way for expand the market to the children…. Or can be sold inside a plane…

I’m not sure what will be, but maybe have sense for expand the future wallet of clients.

I’ve seen a bunch of these type of egg planes In Japan. Apparently they are very popular. I believe Hasegawa makes them as well.

Actually seen these on AMS, AvMgS and Threshold too amongst others, besides toy shops online and on Amazon and ebay.
These aren't 'adult collectibles' as such haha
