The owners of Gemini / ADI are not young. I have heard rumours of a potential sale. Within the next 10 years or so I would expect a change in ownership at Gemini in the very least. The same goes for JC Wings, Phoenix and Aeroclassics. With the brands all 20+ years old and run by a figurehead...
A recent pickup from AirSpotters is this Avianca Boeing 707-359B HK-1402. Avianca had started jet operations by leasing a Pan Am 707-121 in October 1960 and then acquiring a single 720 to replace it in 1961, followed by a second in 1965. It wasn't until 1968 that their first owned 707 was...
I think that if you look at different brands they have had different periods where their products have been the best or they've been making a lot of high quality releases compared to their peers. As I said for Gemini that was 2000-2008. Aeroclassics best periods were in that 2005-2015 period...
Yes you have your facts wrong and most of what you've said is clearly not accurate
The Golden Age of Gemini was 2000-2008 when competition was limited.
Because the licensors don't look kindly on that when they know the models exist, you pay the licensors in bulk as a % and it creates a secondary market for UK buyers too. I wouldn't look kindly on the models being available cheaper elsewhere being a UK buyer and I might look to buy them from...
ARD know which side their bread is buttered. They don't have an issue with NG BA releases either. Basically if the brand is big enough they appear flexible.
Also, ARD's licensing controls only reach as far as the borders of Albion. HX could easily make these and sell them everywhere but the UK...
I agree with a lot of what Jorge just said as someone who's been involved in this myself recently. Licensing properly with the airline and manufacturer adds a significant extra cost. Then the middleman (in this case ARD) needs to see a return on their investment too. None of those costs exist...
Nothing is certain but probably not using these moulds after these first two batches
I dunno. HX's record on narrowbodies so far is poor and their mainly Asian release choices would never match the usage of those moulds.
No these are the first photos of the models with the components we've been able to get. Effectively these are the sample shots. They've been poor at responding to requests.
I don't think the nose has changed but the engines...
What can I say! This is the issue dealing with third party manufacturers. Panda have been excellent to work with, but this other bunch not so much. I think AI is more likely to kill us all than make excellent 400 scale models however
Y'know I think they are. I think they have put the engines from the Inflight500 727 mould onto the Witty 400 727. Here is the Inflight500 version - the engines look the same:
I have spoken with Motor City and we have emailed the factory. Hopefully they respond quickly and with a suitable...
